Nicole's POV
I stood there in shock. I couldn't move and truthfully I didn't know what to say.
When he kissed me, I felt sparks shoot through me. Not only that but I felt my wolf surge forward just enough that I got scared. I managed to close my eyes quickly enough that he wouldn't catch it. Winter had never surged forward like that before now. I know I lied to him. Of course I felt the mate bond but I always thought it was something else because he didn't react. Who would have thought that he was hiding it too. Now there was no denying it– he is truly our mate. Unfortunately, it broke my heart but I couldn't accept him. He would just use me for my wolf. Knowing the truth now behind Winter made me even more protective and cautious. I couldn't lose her for good. I had to push him away but how do I do that when he keeps pulling stunts like that!
I groaned inwardly and waited in silence. Soon I heard him let out a sigh and I watched as he turned and left me in peace. I slid down the wall and sat on the floor. Bringing my knees up to my chest I hugged myself tight. My chest hurt just at the thought of losing him.
He can't be my mate.
We can't be mates.
This can't happen.
This needs to end.
Winter cried in my mind and I couldn't help the tears that escaped for her. For so long we hoped for happiness but the thing that should bring us the most happiness has to be taken away from us.

Days passed and things between Jake and I were unsteady. We avoided each other like the plague. Whenever the other entered the room we would leave quickly.
No eye contact, no speaking, nothing. Tyler and Sam along with some of the other pack members noticed our changes and it made things even more uncomfortable. I would go to train with the guys and the moment he showed up we would end the match and I would leave. If I walked into the dining room and he was in there he would dump his plate and leave. We walked on eggshells around each other. There were times I could feel his eyes burning into my back and I wanted nothing more than to turn around but I fought myself.
I needed to get out of this house! I needed to get away from him! I needed a break.
I was sitting in the lounge flipping through the tv channels trying to find something to distract me. Tyler entered the room and plopped on the couch next to me.
“What's up, chica!”
I gave him a funny look and raised my eyebrow at him.
“Really.. Chica?”
He laughed, “what? You Are a girl aren't you?”
I looked down at my breasts.
“Yup! Last time I checked anyways”.
“God you are weird” He said, shaking his head.
“You started this” I smirked.
“Yea but you didn't have to take it that far”.
Sam, Jeff, and Gabe all entered the room and it didn't go unnoticed that they were all dressed particularly nice tonight.
“What's with the getup?” I asked c*****g an eyebrow.
“We’re going out. There's a club we hang out at”. Gabe stated with a wink.
“So it's just you guys going?” I asked.
Sam nodded, “Yup, cool kids only”.
I shook my head and smiled.
Tyler leaned closer to me and whispered, “Boss is busy tonight. He locked himself in the office to finish some work. We have the night off so we go to blow off steam”.
I nodded and stood up, dusting myself off and fixing my hair into a ponytail.
“Alright, let's go”.
“Woah! Yeah right. You are staying here Nik''. Sam said, holding his hands up.
I glared at him.
“I am not staying here all night. I need a break guys! And besides, I have a beta, gamma, and two warriors with me!”
They all looked at each other.
“If anything happens to you, it will be our heads on chopping blocks”, Jeff said.
I hardly ever hear him speak and he always avoids contact with me.
“Either you let me go with you, or i'll go on my own '' I say matter of factly.
I put my hands on my hips and waited for a response. When Sam sighs loudly and motions for me to walk past him I smile and let out a girly squeal.
Point 1 to the girl!
We drive for a while and finally pull up to a massive building with lights flashing and music blasting. I see a long line and wonder how long it will take to get in.
We park on the side of the road, get out and Gabe hands the keys to a man who drives the car away to park. I watch the guys as we move to the front of the line and up to a very large man.
The man nods at us and we are let in very quickly. I must have looked confused because Sam and Tyler smile at me and walk me up to a large set of stairs. We climb the stairs and sit at a round table.
“We are VIP here” Tyler smirks.
I roll my eyes, “go figure”.
A pretty waitress comes up and drops off drinks to all the guys and smiles at me before asking what I want to drink.
“She will have a water,'' Sam says.
I snap my head towards him and glare.
He holds his hands up in defense, “Don't give me that look. You're underage and I'm not taking you home drunk. I like my balls attached to my body thank you”.
I huff and lean back into the seat. She brings me my water and I sip on it as everyone else drinks a variety of scotch, bourbon, or beer.
“Wait. Tyler, aren't you underage too?”
He smiles and raises a glass up to me. I roll my eyes as the men all start laughing.
“Hi, baby!” a girl walks up and sits down on Gabes lap. He smiles a wolfish grin and wraps his arm around the female. She is very pretty sure but the smell of her vanilla perfume is overpowering.
“Who is this?” she asks, looking at me.
“This is Nicole,” Sam says and nods towards me.
“Nicole, this is Jasmine. She performs her frequently”.
“Hi, nice to meet you,” I replied.
She smiles and looks me up and down.
“You are a very pretty girl, have you ever performed?” she asked.
I hear a small growl from both sides of me and look to see Tyler and Sam both showing deep displeasure in the idea.
“She doesn't”. They both respond in a flat tone.
“Hey! Too bad. You'd be killer at it”. She says winking and standing to walk away.
I look around and see that all the guys are sipping on their drinks again.
“Umm what was that about?” I asked.
“Nothing” Tyler states.
“No, not nothing. What were those guys?”
“Nicole, drop it” Sam responds with a tone that means what he says.
I huff again and sink back into the booth crossing my arms.
Why do men have to be so damn moody?
