Jakes POV It had been a couple weeks now and I still kept locked away from everyone even more so now. I buried my problems deep down and kept to the same routine. I had food brought up to my room or my office. I spent all day bouncing between the two rooms. Some days I kept busy with books and work. Others I spent just with the TV on. At night I spent my time out in the woods running in wolf form. It helped to clear my head. Sam and Tyler tried to knock on the door sometimes but our meetings were cut short. I always kept it about work and nothing else. I finished my normal routine and just as the sun set I walked downstairs and jogged towards the tree line. I stripped off my clothes and let the change over take me. I landed on all fours and shook my head. I felt the dirt between my toes and smelled the fresh air. I loved being in wolf form and I knew Blaze loved it too. Stretching, I let Blaze take over. He took off running and I could see he had his tongue out enjoying the run like a puppy. I chuckled in my head as I watched the overgrown pup. A few miles into the run I tensed as Blaze perked his ears up. A branch snapped a few feet away but I couldn't sense anyone yet. I lowered myself to the ground and let out a low growl. Suddenly two wolves jumped out and tackled me. We rolled around on the dirt before we all broke apart and looked at each other. My eyes looked at the larger gray wolf with a black ear, and a light brown wolf with black speckles through his fur. I let out a slight growl in annoyance. “What are you two doing here?” “Just needed to let out some steam, Boss,” Tyler said from his brown wolf. “I want to be alone,” I huffed. “Well too bad. We want to go for a run and you can only shut us out with a door” Sam said. I rolled my eyes and turned to start running again. I heard the padding of their paws following behind me. We ran for most of the night and it wasn't until before dawn when we made our way back to the packhouse. We shifted back and got dressed. I turned to leave without another word when I felt a hand stop me. I stiffened at the contact. I looked back at the hand holding me then up to Sam. “Jake. Come on man. You may be our Alpha but you were our friend first and foremost”. I sighed and looked down. “What do you want from me?” I asked. “I want you to stop shutting us out”. Tyler stepped forward next. “Please just tell us what is going on?” “Whats going on? You mean how I have been hounded to find a mate and when I think I finally have she doesn't feel the mate bond at all? Or how about everytime I try to get close to her she rejects me and then when i try to give her space I am ready to kill just to be close to her again!” I yell. I was so frustrated I pulled my hair and turned to raise my fist. I swung and made contact with a tree trunk. The trunk cracked under the force. I was heaving and felt a hand rest on my shoulder. “I'm sorry..” Sam said. “We didn't know..” Tyler added. I turned around to face them. Their eyes held emotions I couldn't place. Pity maybe? Who knows. I straightened and pulled my resolve back on. “Lets go” I said as I turned back towards the house once again. I heard them sigh but footsteps followed behind me. We entered the house and I heard my phone ring in my pocket. Ty and Sam looked at me briefly and I nodded for them to continue on. As they walked past me towards the kitchen I answered the phone. “Jake Ashford… uh huh… understood… I can be there… Thank you”. I hung up the phone and tossed my head back. Great more work to keep busy. I walked into the kitchen and bumped into something. “Oof!” I looked down at her small frame and my breath got caught in my throat. Her silver hair fell into her face and she pushed it aside and her hazel eyes met mine. “Hmph” she huffed and shoved past me. For her little size she really was stronger than she looked. My face dropped slightly as I watched her push me aside. I turned over my shoulder to watch her as she sauntered up the stairs. Her hips swayed beautifully and I felt my eyes lingering on her ass. My attention was brought back to the room when Gabe cleared his throat. My eyes met my Beta, Gamma, and a handful of warriors all spread around the kitchen and dining room. Their eyes are all on me. Some with curiosity and others with a glint of mischief. I growled slightly and they all turned their gaze away from me. I grabbed a plate and filled it with food. Sitting down next to the two idiots who followed me out earlier. “What was the call about, boss?” Tyler asked. “Hm. oh. Meeting at Le Loup Noir” I responded shrugging. “Who now?” Sam asked. “Some rouge thought that they could just skim off the top”. “When do we go?” Tyler asked. “Tonight. Nat also asked for Nicole. Why would that be?” I asked taking another bite of food. “Well Nathalie kind of grew fond of Nik. Plus it seemed like Nicole enjoyed having a friend who isn't a man” Sam chuckled at the end. I thought about this and shrugged. “Fine. Have her ready to leave. I won't wait on anyone”. Sam gave Tyler a look before they both stood and left. I finished my plate before walking up to my room and jumping into the shower. I let the water run over me but as I closed my eyes images of her filled my mind. My c**k hardened and throbbed and I hated how much she affected me. Groaning, I let my hand stroke away to ease my pain. Finishing I rinsed off in the water before turning the water off and stepping out. I walked out and went to my closet. I found a solid black v-neck shirt, jeans, and a pair of black leather boots. I tousled my hair and took a look in the mirror. I liked the casual look but I hated that i couldn't ever just dress casual without work following. I opened my door and walked out. Making my way downstairs my heart dropped to my stomach as I saw my men standing around her. She wore her silver hair up in a ponytail. Her curves were accentuated by a pair of skinny jeans and a tank top. She looked gorgeous.
