chapter 1:The Actor Who Couldn’t Move On
Chapter One — The Actor Who Couldn’t Move On
The dressing room of Haneul Entertainment was
unusually quiet.
Which was dangerous.
Because whenever actor Cha Minwoo became
quiet, it usually meant emotional disaster was
approaching.
His manager already looked exhausted.
“Minwoo-ah,” she said carefully, “why are you
staring at your phone like it personally betrayed you?”
Minwoo looked up slowly.
“…Because it did.”
His younger sister, Cha Yerin, walked into the
room carrying iced coffee.
“You’re stalking your ex again, aren’t you?”
“I’m not stalking him.”
“You zoomed into his airport photos yesterday.”
“That was investigative journalism.”
“That was pathetic.”
Minwoo sighed dramatically and threw himself
onto the couch.
At twenty-four, Cha Minwoo was one of Korea’s
fastest rising actors.
Talented.
Beautiful.
Rich.
And unfortunately…
Very bad at breakups.
Especially after his boyfriend of three years
suddenly ended their relationship six months ago.
No explanation.
No closure.
Just heartbreak.
Which was exactly why Minwoo absolutely did
not want to hear the next sentence.
“You’re joining a dating show.”
Minwoo sat up instantly.
“…What?”
Yerin smiled brightly.
“A BL dating show.”
His manager nodded tiredly.
“The company already agreed.”
Minwoo stared at both of them like they had
betrayed the nation.
“You can’t be serious.”
“The public misses you,” his manager explained.
“And honestly? You’ve been emotionally
decomposing in your apartment.”
“I’ve been healing.”
“You cried because your food delivery driver
looked like your ex.”
“That was a difficult day.”
Yerin crossed her arms proudly.
“Besides, what if you fall in love again?”
Minwoo looked horrified.
“I would rather fight a shark.”
Two weeks later…
Bright camera flashes filled the entrance of the
luxurious mansion used for Korea’s newest
reality show:
LOVE HOUSE: SECOND CHANCE
The internet was already obsessed.
Famous actors.
Models.
CEOs.
Influencers.
All living together for one month while searching
for love.
The host smiled brightly toward the cameras.
“Our next contestant is someone everyone already knows…”
The black car door opened slowly.
And out stepped Cha Minwoo.
The online livestream exploded instantly.
“OH MY GOD.”
“HE’S INSANELY HANDSOME.”
“Why does he look heartbroken and expensive at
the same time?”
“THAT FACE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.”
Minwoo ignored the cameras and entered the
mansion calmly.
The inside was beautiful.
Warm lighting.
Modern furniture.
Huge windows overlooking Seoul.
And unfortunately…
Very attractive men.
Some contestants greeted him nervously.
Others openly stared.
Then Minwoo noticed someone sitting quietly
near the bookshelf.
Tall.
Black sweater.
Sharp jawline.
Silver rings around elegant fingers.
The man looked up slowly from his coffee.
And Minwoo’s brain immediately stopped functioning.
“Oh no,” he whispered under his breath.
The man raised an eyebrow slightly.
Unfortunately, the microphone caught everything.
The producers behind the cameras nearly screamed.
One whispered dramatically:
“He fell in love immediately.”
Another nodded emotionally.
“This is cinema.”
The man stood calmly.
“Hello,” he said.
Deep voice.
Dangerously calm.
“I’m Lee Jaehyun.”
Minwoo shook his hand carefully.
“…Cha Minwoo.”
Jaehyun studied him quietly for a second before
speaking again.
“You’re more dramatic in person.”
The room immediately burst into laughter.
Minwoo looked offended.
“You watched my breakup videos?”
“The entire country watched your breakup videos.”
Minwoo wanted the ground to open and swallow him alive.
That evening, all the contestants gathered in the living room for introductions.
The atmosphere became warmer after dinner.
People laughed more easily.
Some contestants were already flirting.
Others looked terrified.
Then the host smiled brightly.
“Tonight’s question is simple.”
Everyone became nervous immediately.
“When did you realize you liked men?”
One by one, contestants answered honestly.
Then it became Minwoo’s turn.
He leaned back into the couch dramatically.
“My family figured it out before I did.”
The room laughed immediately.
“My older sister’s first reaction was warning me not to steal her boyfriend.”
Even Jaehyun laughed quietly beside him.
“And my younger sister,” Minwoo continued while
pointing accusingly at Yerin behind the cameras,
“used my secret to blackmail me for money.”
Yerin waved proudly.
“Still successful.”
The contestants laughed harder.
“But honestly,” Minwoo admitted more softly,
“my family was very supportive.”
The host smiled gently.
“What about your parents?”
Minwoo covered his face dramatically.
“My mother caught me on a date.”
The room screamed instantly.
“No way!”
“She went to the same restaurant with her friends,”
Minwoo explained.
“I thought my life was over.”
“What happened?”
“One of her friends asked who the guy beside me was…”
Everyone leaned forward.
“And my mother replied…” Minwoo sighed helplessly. “‘That’s my son-in-law.’”
The room exploded.
“That’s actually adorable!”
“Your mother sounds amazing!”
“I’m jealous!”
Minwoo laughed quietly.
“She later told me she already knew. She was
waiting for me to feel ready enough to tell her myself.”
Jaehyun Iooked at him differently after that
Softer somehow.
Interested.
Dangerously interested.
Then came the final question.
“What was your worst breakup?”
The atmosphere changed immediately.
Minwoo’s smile faded slightly.
“There was someone,” Jaehyun said quietly from beside him.
Minwoo looked at him slowly.
“…Yeah.”
The room became silent.
And for the first time publicly…
Minwoo told the truth.
About accidentally answering his ex’s phone.
About unknowingly outing him to his sister.
About the cold distance afterward.
The sudden breakup.
The desperate trip to Paris trying to fix everything.
The tattoo he got because his ex liked tattoos.
Learning to drink alcohol even though he hated it.
Even trying cigarettes once because he thought becoming “cooler” would make someone stay.
By the end…
The room was completely silent.
Then Jaehyun finally spoke.
“You changed yourself for him.”
Minwoo laughed weakly.
“I thought that’s what love was.”
Jaehyun looked directly at him.
Calm.
Serious.
“The right person won’t make you feel difficult to love.”
And somehow…
Those words hurt more than the breakup itself.
Because for the first time in months…
Someone understood him.
Completely.
And somewhere between the bright lights, hidden
cameras, and nervous heartbeats…
Something quietly began.
Again.
