I can't forget her...

609 Words
Dusk was a high school student, looking forward to his KCSE exams. By the time the exams were over, Dusk was exhausted, but proud that he had done his very best. After being at school all day for the exam, Dusk was finally home and looking forward to some relaxing down time. When he took a moment to think, however, he couldn't help but remember the affair he had with his teacher, Dawn – two days prior. He thought of the warmth of the sun that had spilled in as they met in the hallway of the school and the intensity was palpable. They had stared into one another's eyes, not needing to say a word for understanding to pass between them. Dawn had been the one to break the silence' 'Are you free, Dusk?' she had said, her eyes accentuating a hint of a smirk. He nodded. He somehow knew what she was asking, though he had no idea how he had been so sure. Without another word, he led the way out of the building, following Dawn as she lead them away in her car, driving down an unknown path to an unknown fate. After a few more minutes of driving, they had arrived at a farmhouse – simple, but beautiful. Dusk was in awe. He had expected something much different from what he saw. Once inside, he and Dawn had kissed passionately and embraced one another with fervor. It felt as though time had suddenly stopped in that moment, as they both raged in the purest of emotions. Dusk had been transfixed, completely hypnotized by Dawns's presence and the exquisite moments they shared together. However, after some time had passed, the Sun graced them with its presence and Dusk realized that the evening had gotten away from him. It was already near morning and Dusk knew that he wouldn't be able to stay any longer. Saying goodbye to Dawn, Dusk had left the farmhouse. Deep down, Dusk had wanted to text Dawn, he wanted to express his emotions. However, Dusk remembered that his phone was broken, something he had been ignoring for days. With no way to communicate, Dusk got in his car and drove away, feeling a sense of sadness for not being able to express his feelings adequately. As the days passed, Dusk could not shake the memory of his time with Dawn, and it haunted him daily. Dusk tried to focus on other aspects of his life, but it was no use, as the memory was simply too powerful. Although he could not talk to Dawn via phone, he still wanted to. He knew that even if they could not be together, he still wanted to find a way to reach out and communicate with her. So, Dusk decided to take the risk and text her on i********:. Even though his phone was broken, he was determined to reach out. Knowing the risk he was taking, Dusk took the first step and sent her a message. Hours later, Dusk heard the sound of a reply and when he looked to his phone, he was surprised to see a reply from Dawn. She said that she was happy to hear from him, and that she had been thinking of him too. Dusk was overjoyed and amazed that they had somehow managed to bridge the gap between them despite all the obstacles that stood in their way. Despite all of the odds, they had found a way to stay connected. So, Dusk said goodbye once again, still not knowing what would happen next, yet with the comfort of knowing he had finally bridged the gap.
