He faced her. That was what he had been waiting to hear. He walked back to her. "Work for me."
She scoffed. Why on earth would he think she would want to work for a jerk like him. "I don't like you know, what makes you think I can stand working for you."
One couldn't blame her. She grew up believing she had to always say what was on her mind.
"If that's the case...." He turned knowing very well that she was going to call him back.
"Wait!"
He smirked then faced her. "I will see you later then. But for now, go home and change from these." He pointed to her pajamas. "It's already day light."
"Oh, jeez I wonder whose fault it is." She pointed out.
"Do realize I'm your boss now?"
She remained silent, sure if she spoke, he wouldn't quite appreciate it.
"Good. I'll see you later."
She wrapped the towel around herself as she stepped out of the bathroom. She had nothing at all, so put on some underwear and her patched up dress which reached her mid-thigh. She brushed her hair looking at her reflection. She picked up a magazine. Why couldn't she like Sasha Ellen Pisano.
That was her idol. She knew she would never be like her, but nothing bad ever came from dreaming. She put down the magazine and sighed. Why was this happening to her. For crying out loud she has no surname. No identity. No parents, no nothing.
She wondered why parents would just abandon their child. She was a woman with a lot of worries, troubles. But then for the first time, they all went away when 'the café man' as she calls Roman was near.
She clutched her brush close to her chest. A smile crossed her face just by thinking of him. But hey. The smile left her. He was rich bully that had no respect and morals.
She cleared her mind off all these thoughts when she remembered she had work. She put on her uniform and headed out. Walking down the streets of her neighborhood, she was hollered at. Most people knew her. She was after all the wild one.
"Hey there baby." Sean called. He was the neighborhood's bad boy. He was very annoying and thought he could have anything he wanted. And now his newest project, Nikki.
She rolled her eyes at him and passed him by. To her, he was nothing but a pest. I bee she kept swatting away.
"Come on Nikki why do you always have to be like that?" He grabbed her hand, causing her to halt.
She yanked her hand away. "How am I being?"
He studied her for a while. All the girls in the neighborhood wanted him. What made her so different. She wasn't better than anyone there.
"You know you should be happy I like you. Do you have any idea how many girls are dying for me?"
His statement only caused her to roll her eyes. "That's the difference Sean. I'm nothing like all those other girls. Now get out of my way else I'm going to be late for work."
He looked down at her for a minute before giving her way. She was going to be his. Whether she liked it or not.
Nikki cussed at she glanced at her watch. Thanks to that empty headed no good she was going to be late.
Finally, after ten minutes she reached the café. She hurriedly entered and began getting ready for her customers.
"Hey Nikki. One cup of dark coffee." Her first and regular customer, Mr. Noah ordered. She smiled at him and replied. "Coming up." She liked Mr. Noah. He was like a grandfather to her.
"Here you go." She placed his order down along with a free muffin on his table. "It's on the house."
"It's funny hearing you say it." Roman's voice teased from behind. She closed her eyes and sucked in breath trying to control her temper.
