Stupid Xander had made me do night patrol so that he could spend the night alone with Sophia. Asshole! I took a group of newer warriors with me so they could get the feel of things. They were so damn annoying, talking non-stop.
“Will you all shut up and focus? If your mind linking, you can’t hear if anything is going on.”
I got a round of sorry betas and they stayed quiet after that. We were on our third lap of the night when I picked up a weird scent.
“Does anyone smell that?”
“Ya, it’s really sweet. What is it?” One of them asked.
“I’m not sure, but let’s be on high alert.” I linked back to them.
