The Calm Before Storm

Kylie POV

I couldn’t stop laughing with the stories that Arielle is telling me. We were still in my room and I'm enjoying every bit of the time spent here.

It’s like we are finally discussing as besties, there were so many things that she had wanted to tell me all these years but had to restrict herself.

Right now she is telling me about the times she had to guard her thoughts from me and how hard it was for her. I had always thought she was a person who didn’t think much maybe that’s why I couldn’t hear most of her thoughts, but I'm just finding out that werewolves can build a barrier in their mind against intruders.

It was like putting up a fence or a wall to protect your thoughts. Hearing this I remembered trying to read Liam’s thoughts at the office that day and how I was met with a wall.

Arielle also told me about what’s it’s like living in the pack. She made it seems so beautiful that I feel excited to try it out already.

With her by my side I won’t any problems fitting in. I might be an introvert but I hate when people tries to take me for granted or bully me. She said also that as the Luna I'm like the mother of the pack and everyone in it are my children both old and young.

“Hell no! I will not want to be the centre of attraction here” I told her

She smiled and said

“You already are sweet chicks.”

She also told me about the marking and that part is scary. Although she believes in the moon goddess and her pairing but she doesn’t like Liam. She believes he is a playboy and would take advantage of me

“I thought you were suppose to give me moral support not make it more scary.” I said to her when she mentioned the pains and my cheeks turned crimson red at s*x part of the marking.

“Well you have to know everything if you insist on going on with him” She said flipping on the my bed

“What do you mean if I insist. I was brought here for my own safety remember”

“Of course I know that. But you can be here and not accept the mate bond. Though I doubt if that can happen because it’s very very usual for it to happen that the mates are able to resist the mate bond. But in your case you are human so the effect would not be much I guess” She said

I just kept staring and listening to everything she was saying until my mind drifted off. Resist?

Do I want to resist him?

He is charming and handsome and fits into my ideal man but I don’t even know him. Not to mention Allison. She is after my head and I know she won’t make it easy for me at all. Maybe I should follow Arielle’s advise and reject him.

“Earth to Kylie…” I heard her snapping her fingers in my face

“I’m sorry, I got carried away” I Said

“What’s wrong, was it because of what I said, you don’t have to worry about it. I'm sure we will figure it out soon. And I'm right here with you till the end.” She smiled confidently at me beating and puffing her chest forward like might Hercules

I laughed at the gesture which made her puff it higher and I laughed harder until tears came to my eyes

“Okay that was hilarious, don’t ever imitate any frictional character again. It doesn’t suit you one bit. But thanks for having my back. I was actually thinking about Allison. One of her minions was here to threaten me. I was just thinking now that since I have you here, I won’t need to be afraid of what that she-dog can do again.” I said seriously

“Wow werewolves don’t like to be compared to dogs, but seeing this particular situation I think we can make an exemption. I mean she follows Liam everywhere like a dog on heat.”I get it the joke.She winks at me.

“I do get it miss joker of the year.” I said admist laughter

We were sharing a good laugh when my door suddenly bust opened the entrance was darkened by two presence

“Speaking about the dogs..” Arielle whispered to me, which I chuckled in return trying my possible best to hold back my laughter.

Allison walked gracefully into my room, although you can sense the fury in her movement. It’s funny how I don’t feel as intimated as I use to be.

Initially when I see her coming or getting close to me the way she obviously doing right now would cause me to have a certain fear. I must admit she was looking good with all her designers clothes and carriage that befits a queen but for once in my life I don’t feel like running to hide.

That’s a good start isn’t it. She look around the room with so much malice dripping from her eyes, wow if looks can kill I would be with straight eye bullets by now.

“I can see that you are trying to make yourself comfortable b***h” She said finally with her minions behind her looking like she won an award as a telltale.

“Well don’t get too comfy, because this not your place. You don’t have the right or the will to steal my man and live comfortably.”She said with disgust pulling a chair looking at it with disgust. I think she wants to sit but change her mind

“Well technically I didn’t steal him from you. You see he brought me here himself to keep his precious mate safe from harm. He won’t want me running around and getting hurt by the likes of some nitwits. And unlike some persons who throw themselves at him I didn’t even have to bater my eyebrows to get me bringing me home” I said swaying my head

Now her fury knew no bounds..

“I will make you eat your words Kylie. I will make you wish you were sorry you ever crossed my path.” She said and threw the chair she wanted to sit on the floor.

Arielle immediately stood to my defence

“Back off Allison, she is your Luna and you can’t fight the moon goddess. If you have any issues take it up with the alpha or better still go look for your own mate.

Aren’t you tired of being a dog on heat with the alpha. He hasn’t announced you as his mate neither has he marked you. Take a chill pill and fight your battles with the one who has offended you. And if you decide to fight with her then you have me also and I'm also sure your minion’s mate wouldn’t support their mates going against the alpha. So I would advice you think and act wisely before you lose your head.” I opened my mouth as Arielle was talking.

I felt so proud of my friend I would have hugged her if the situation didn’t call for such. I turned towards Allison with my new found confidence

“You have no idea what Liam has planned for me and I won’t want you to miss it so stick around, maybe you might be able to have a face licking by your fellow dogs. So please if you would excuse me I need my beauty rest . Get out of my room..” I said to her directly.

There was visible shock on her face. She knows I have never had the courage to speak to her in this manner.

I might make one or two smartly comments to her face or even just try to be sneaky in avoiding her issues but confronting her head has never being my thing.

I'm Indecisive of what to say or do to me she storms out of my room. But I can tell this isn’t over. I can almost feel the brim of trouble boiling silently.

This is like the calm before the storm. I don’t no how I could tell but I sense danger ahead, the feeling sends a shiver done my spine and I physically shivered.

“Are you okay? Don’t worry about her , she all backs but no bite..” Arielle said rolling her eyes dramatically.

But somehow I find that statement to be wrong.

Somehow I believe that statement is wrong, she can bite and she can bite hard at that. I really need to be careful.

“Don’t worry we are in this together…” A tiny female voice said to me

“What did you say?” I asked Arielle

She laughed at me and said

“Don’t be funny I didn’t say anything and trust me my walls are down so you can hear me think right now, not that I'm hiding anything from you..” She quickly corrected

“But it has become a force of habit with me to always keep my walls up when ever I'm with you.” She said looking at me apologically

I wasn’t really paying attention to what she was saying anymore. That voice was the same voice I heard when I met Liam for the first time.

And if I can remember I have heard it before but don’t remember when or where.

Whose voice is it and why is it talking to me like it’s an entity separate from my thoughts.

“Alpha says it’s time for dinner, so I need to get you down to the table.” Arielle suddenly interrupted my thoughts.

“When did you talk to him” I asked looking surprise.

She tapped at her head smiling, I nodded in understanding smiling too

“Mindlink..” I said but then remembered something. I thought you said you had your walls put up.

“I had to bring it when I saw the confusion on your face and I felt maybe you were angry with me and believed I'm still not keeping any more secrets from you” She said

“Oh no I wasn’t worried about you..” I said quickly as I made to change my clothes.

I was wearing a short and breast tube top which I believe is not appropriate for dinner with everyone so while we talk I changed into a joggers complete with a simple flip flop and we headed out the door.

“If you weren’t worried about my thoughts then what were you thinking about.” Arielle finally asked

“I was worried about a voice I heard. Maybe someone passing by. I waved it off. I didn’t want to read too much meaning into it.” I said walking out of the door with her behind me.

Walking down to the hall I was a bit tensed ,

I saw some familiar faces from school that I couldn’t believe were werewolves and some unfamiliar faces. Arielle boyfriend came up to us on our way and she finally did a proper introduction.

“Kylie meet my mate Dominic. You already know him as my boyfriend but now you know he is my mate, which is why I can’t leave his sorry ass when he annoys me.” She said playfully.

Dominic pulled me in for a warm hug.. “Welcome to the pack Kylie. Finally Arielle decided to tell you about us, I'm so relieved.”

“Actually…” she didn’t get to find her statement when a new person entered the picture.

“Hey nice to finally meet you, I'm Desmond the beta. Welcome to Pincrest pack.” He said and also hugged me but I don’t know if it was my mind playing tricks on me but I could have sworn he sniffed and rubbed himself on me.

But it quickly became a hugging competition with every new person that came in but strangely only the men introduced by Desmond were hugging and rubbing themselves on me.

At a point Arielle became pissed that yelled at them to stop with the pretense of being late for dinner.

She rushed me out of their midst and straight to the dinner room. Liam was already seated when we got there, he has a beautiful smile on his face when he saw us approach

ing him but suddenly that smile disappeared and was replaced by a frown.
