Chapter 8: Going home

911 Words
Lana P.O.V I woke up, still feeling quite the buzz in my head. Was I still in the hospital? The drugs that the doctor gave me seemed to have seriously affected my body as I mostly slept throughout the day and night. At the times when I was awake and aware of the world around me. I mostly only saw the Alpha guy, who was claiming to be my mate, talking in hushed tones with another guy or the doctor, or he would be asleep in the chair. I looked around the room, blinking and trying to figure out where everyone was. I didn't see him here, the bathroom door was also left open, which clearly meant that he wasn't in there. The door to the room quickly opened and the doctor walked in, slightly shocked to see that I was awake. She tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear before folding the chart under her arm as she walked over to me. "Lana! I am so happy to see that you are awake!" the doctor said as if I was supposed to know that it was a miracle to see me up and awake. The doctor just c****d her head to the side as she looked at me intently. "Can you understand me?" she asked. I just quickly nodded my head, showing her I understood what she was saying. "Can I perhaps hand you some water? I am sure that it will help you speak" the doctor said as she hurried over to get me a glass. I just shook my head furiously and backed up even more until I sat there, curled up in a small ball, not wanting to have anyone come close to me. As if he walked in right on cue, the Alpha guy rushed into the room, hearing the distress of the doctor trying to calm me down. "Lana, sweetheart! You need to try and calm down!" the Alpha said as he too tried to touch me. I just shook my head, trying to slap and kick him, trying my best to get away from him. I tried to jump up and get off the bed. As my feet touched the ground, my legs completely failed me as I fell to the ground. I tried my best to brace myself fo what my fate was. I held still for I don't even know how many seconds before I realized that I wasn't in the amount of pain I expected to be. I slowly opened up one eye to see arms wrapped around me. I looked up and saw that it was the Alpha guy who was holding me. He just looked at me with sad eyes before picking me up and placing me back in bed again. "Look, Lana. I will tell you everything that you want and need to know, but first ... I need you to calm down. You have been badly hurt by the members of your previous pack. But, I promise, you are safe here with me. With us. No harm will come to you, you just need to trust us!" the Alpha said with a serious look in his eyes. I nodded my head at him. "Not much of a talker, hey?" he said with a smile as he backed up some and gave me my space. I shook my head before averting my eyes to elsewhere. I didn't want to speak to him. Every time that I even thought of just opening my mouth at my old pack, I would be beaten to a pulp, no reason why they wouldn't do it here as well. They surely had to have heard about my story. The Alpha guy took a seat in one of the chairs next to my bed before the doctor walked over to the machine and pressed some buttons. "Alright, Miss. Lana. Your vitals do look better, now I would suggest that you take it easy for the rest of the afternoon and the night, and maybe we will be able to discharge you tomorrow! I will be back later to give you some medicine" the doctor said before leaving. The two of us just sat there in total silence. Obviously, I refused to talk, they wouldn't hear me and I would suffer any pain. "So, let me first tell you about myself. Maybe, if you get to know me and trust me, then I might be able to get to know you a little better" the Alpha guy said as he folded one of his legs over the other, making himself comfortable in the seat. I just looked away, honestly only wishing he would leave me alone. "My name is Alexander, I am the Alpha of this pack. I am an easy go lucky wolf. I don't have many things in particular that upset me. The one thing I do not tolerate is the fact that other wolves, no matter their rank or their gender, get abused. I also do know something else, I know who you are, and exactly what happened to you during your entire life. I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that, but you need to believe me when I say - you will always be safe here. Even if you reject me, this can be your new home, your new start" Alexander said before stopping himself, realizing that he dropped the mate bond again.
