Chapter 6: Silenced

Lana P.O.V

"I will do everything and anything to ensure that no harm comes to you, as my mate"

The words endlessly kept on running through my mind. It was impossible for him to even be my mate. I mean, Justin was my mate? Although he rejected me, he unfortunately still held the title. As if karma were to have a roll in all of this, the mere thought of Justin made a dream-like vision pop up inside of my head.

I saw Justin kissing and making out with Claire. They were practically all over each other. But, I thought Claire was one of Marco's side chicks. It didn't take them long at all to have each other undressed - I suddenly tried to yell out in pain, but literally, no sound left my mouth. It felt like someone was practically stabbing me with a knife in the chest over and over again. What the hell was happening?! It felt worse than being beaten up by my brothers and their groupies. I tried to cling to my chest, feeling it tighten even more and more.

"Mate, sleeping with her" Chasity gasped as she briefly came forward before disappearing again and leaving me to deal with all of this pain on my own again. Alexander was all over me, trying to get me to calm down and calling out to whoever was close by in the hallways that he needed to get the doctor back into the room again. His hands gripped at mine, holding my chest as the machines started beeping like crazy again. Finally, my whole body felt numb and darkness consumed me, pulling me away from all the pain and suffering.

Alexander P.O.V

I had no idea what was going on. One moment Lana was fine, and listening to me, the next she was trying to shout out in pain, whimpering and clinging to her chest. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. She was fine when the doctor left. Was it at all possible that they could have missed something? I yelled continuously for someone to get a doctor in here. It felt like forever and I could feel Alexi, my wolf, start to get agitated at the mere fact that our mate was in such excruciating pain. Suddenly, Lana fell limp in my arms, unconscious.

The doctor finally came back into the room, running. Once she saw Lana unconscious in my arms, she immediately took off her stethoscope and laid her back, listening for any abnormalities in her chest. I saw a concerned look flash across her face before she looked over at me. "Alpha, I am sorry but everything sounds fine. I will order some more tests to be conducted in order for us to get to the bottom of all of this. All the results that we have gotten showed nothing wrong with her chest, except for the broken ribs in the lower section" the doctor quickly explained as she flipped open Lana's medical fine, writing some things down. I just nodded my head at her and sat back down in my seat, holding Lana's hand and once again, hoping for her to wake up.

As I sat there, looking at Lana, I could see the pain expressions and tears all over her face. My poor mate was in a world full of pain. I just wished I saw what was happening that night earlier. Maybe I would have been able to stop it sooner, make sure that she didn't get hurt like this.

*Flashback*

"Come on Alexander, you can't seriously want to be missing out on all the single she-wolves here! I mean, have you seen them?!" Dermont, my beta, asked with the usual glint in his eyes. I just rolled my eyes at him and shook my head. "Seriously, Dermont?! It would truly be a miracle by the Moongoddess above that you don't have an entire pack of baby wolves calling you daddy. Could you once ... just this one time try and keep your d**k in your pants?! We are literally just here for the night before we head out tomorrow morning. This is merely just a courtesy owed to the late Alpha Johnathan of the Bloodstone pack. My dad knew him well" I said to Dermont, not really wanting to be here at all.

I hated leaving my pack without the two highest-ranking members, not that I didn't trust our Gamma, I just preferred to have a handle on things myself. A sweet smell of freshly baked bread and honey invaded my senses, sending Alexi into overdrive. "MATE!" he kept on chanting over and over in my head. I knew she was here, I would finally be able to meet my mate and bring my Luna home to my pack where she belongs.

I followed the scent as best I could and saw a crowd gathered ahead of me. I was confused for a few seconds before anger completely boiled inside of me. There were men beating a she-wolf. No one has the right to touch another living being like that! I gave an earth-shattering growl, making them stop what they were doing as I marched over to them. I saw the newly crowned Alphas standing over the she-wolf's limp body. It didn't take Alexi long to notice her as our mate.

"Alpha Alexander, is there anything in particular that I can help you with? The reception is over in the dining hall" Alpha Jesse said, clearly trying to cover up what they were doing. I just glared at him before looking over at my poor mate, lying there broken. All I saw was red and before I could stop it, I planted my fist right in Alpha Jesse's nose, hearing it break. I smiled with satisfaction before walking over to where this poor woman was lying, picking her up and cradling her to my chest.

"Leave Lana the f**k alone!" Another snob wolf yelled. I assumed he was the beta as he stood next to the three Alphas on the stage. I just gave him a warning glare as I growled at him. "You can be thankful that all of you aren't paying for this with your lives!" I said before spinning on my heels and walking away with her in my arms.

*End of Flashback*

It broke me to think of all the horrid things they did to her. Perhaps I should have killed them right then and there when I had the chance.

"Any changes yet?" Dermont asked as he walked into the room with a bouquet of white roses. I just shook my head at him.

"No, she did wake up, but it looks like something happened to her chest and she blacked out again. The doctor will take some more tests before we can finally know what's going on. Any news on the Bloodstone pack?" I asked Dermont. I knew they would likely retaliate for what I did, but I could honestly care less. They deserved even worse than what they got.

"Well, Alpha Jesse did send a letter to request a meeting and apparently, you stole their maid. But, it doesn't make sense, because all records indicate that Lana is their sister. Also, I heard a lot of rumors about her. Such as the one where she killed her parents" Dermont said as he rolled his eyes.

"There's no way that she killed Alpha Jonathan and Luna Marie! I heard about the rogue attack from my father. How could these dipshits seriously believe that she could have done that?!" I gritted through my teeth right as the doctor came in with a few nurses.

"Alpha, Beta, I need you to wait outside, we just need to change some of her wound dressings and do a few more tests" the doctor said as she ushered us out of the room. I hated that I had to wait outside, I was supposed to be with my mate on the inside!
