When Dermont told me that something had happened to Alexander, my heart sank right down to my feet. No, no, no! This can't be happening! I knew I should have protested even harder to not leave Alexander's side. If he could have stayed with me, nothing would have happened to him. He would still be here and he would be keeping me safe and warm. Dermont stormed out of the packhouse and I was hot on his heels. We got to the SUV and Dermont jumped into the driver's seat, followed by me jumping into the passenger seat. I felt like I wanted to suffocate. All of the anxiety was starting to get way too much for me to handle at the moment. All of this that was going on felt too familiar.
