Lana P.O.V
I knew that it was difficult for the triplets to handle the situation. Outside of closed doors, they had to appear strong. I never really knew how they managed to get it right. I was broken on the inside and I couldn't even hide it. Maybe, acting the way they did was some sort of coping mechanism. A knock on the door brought me from my thoughts. "Hey, Lana! You in there?" Carla's voice came from the other side. I got out of bed and walked over to the door. Doubting if I really wanted to open it. I already knew how this conversation with Carla would go. I just sighed before opening the door.
"Morning! Breakfast today?" Carla asked as she stored inside the room holding a tray packed with breakfast and juice. I just shook my head. "No thanks, I don't think I can stomach anything," I said, trying to cut the conversation short in order for her to leave and just let me be. Carla looked at me worriedly, I could also see pity in her eyes. "I'm really fine, you know?" I said, leaning against the wall, really hoping she would just leave me the heck alone.
I even hated having food in this house. The only food that I was allowed to have was the leftovers after the rest of the pack already had dinner. Apparently, killers like me didn't deserve the right to have food. Since my brothers took over as the Alphas-in-training of the pack, things changed drastically. I was significantly downgraded to being the housekeeper and kook. Carla seemed to pick up on me wanting to be alone. She was the only person here who even acknowledged my existence in this world. She just gave me a hug before turning on her heels and leaving my room.
I sighed as I knew I only had about an hour to myself before I had to start making lunch and do start off with the preparations for tomorrow. Tomorrow, my brothers would officially be known as the Alphas of the bloodstone pack. Millions of different kinds of food had to be made, and in between all of that I had to clean the house and set up the backyard as well for the Alphas ceremony. The other she-wolves of the pack would most probably also be able to pick their dresses for the ceremony today as well.
My alarm clock brought me out of my thoughts, ugh ... time to start cleaning again. I put on my sneakers and went over to the cleaning supply closet and gathered all of my things. I always liked to start in the dining room ... that way it would be clean before lunchtime. The few pack members that were still looming around the packhouse luckily ignored my existence and honestly ... I think I prefer it that way.
"Hey, slut!" I heard the most menacing voice in existence and I cringed at the nasal sound echoing through my ears. "What is it, Leora?!" I said, turning around and seeing her stand there with Mike, Ross, and Trace. They were the four meanest pack members here, apart from my brothers. I just sighed, waiting for more of her insults to come my way.
"Breakfast was dry today ... maybe try and be a little careful next time! Honestly, I don't know why Jesse still keeps you around! Even though you are his little sister, you are completely worthless. I am sure even a rat could make better food than you can!" Leora said and I just rolled my eyes at her insults. They weren't really insulting to me anymore ... they simply were just words in my eyes.
"Oh, yeah? And why aren't you the one cooking then if you are willingly referring to yourself as a rat?" I snapped back at her. Her facial expression had to be the best part of my day as I watched her face contort from shock into complete anger. I mentally gave myself a pat on the back as it looked like steam would soon start to blow from her ears. Leora walked forward and before I could even see it coming, she gave me a sharp slap across the face. I just closed my eyes and bit down on my tongue. I knew I had to keep all the anger at bay. I would be in way bigger trouble if I did anything back.
I just brought my eyes up and glared at her. Trace just laughed as he took the small ashtray that was inside the house and dumped it all over the rug I had just managed to clean. They were truly doing all of this on purpose. I just picked up my bucket and broom and walked over to start cleaning it up again. There truly was no use in wanting to argue with any of them about all of this. The best way to not deal with this was to not try and entertain their nonsense any longer.
Thankfully, my silent treatment had managed to bore the four of them as they walked away. I spent the following two hours cleaning the house, making sure that it was clean before all of the other visiting Alphas came to the packhouse for the ceremony for tomorrow. I finally was able to get the entire house clean before I rushed down to the kitchen, I was already ten minutes behind schedule so I had to opt to rather make some hot dogs for lunch. That would be the quickest and easiest way to move forward if I didn't want to receive another beating for being late with the food.
Just as I was making the last few hot dogs, some of the pack members started piling into the dining room. "b***h! Where's the food!" I heard Jesse's voice and it hurt that my own brother would even talk to me like that. If my father were still alive, Jesse wouldn't even try to talk to me like that. I quickly picked up the few platters of hot dogs and walked into the dining hall and placed all of the hot dogs down on the table.
Jesse just stared on in disgust. "Seriously?! We've been working our assess of the entire morning to protect this pack and all you can do is f*****g make hot dogs?! You are disgusting!" Jesse sneered and I knew that I would likely be in trouble later for doing that. I hated that they didn't even think I was busy with cleaning the house all morning long.
