ARIEL'S POV
"You're finally up," Ravenna said as she came to sweep me away from Rosalie before she could answer my question. "How're you feeling?" she scanned my face.
"I'm better, thanks. But why didn't you wake me earlier? The Alpha might be angry I missed morning cleaning."
"Viktor asked us to let you sleep."
I whipped my head toward her, careful not to bump into anyone.
"He did?"
"Yep."
That was unexpected. Did he know I'd slept late? Still, why would he care?
"What about the beast? Was it caught?" I whispered.
She shook her head. "Heard it escaped. But good news is it didn’t harm anyone."
I was going to ask how it managed to escape—or more importantly, how it even got into the compound—but Ravenna had already changed the subject. She was acting kind of.
