GILDA’S POV
I was ready. I was ready for anything, whatever he wanted to do to me. If he wanted to send me out of the house without his brother’s interference, I was prepared for that too.
I looked at the building again and could not believe I had been called here just to be dismissed.
My legs carried me into his office. A small smile escaped his lips when he saw me. He seemed pleased, but I was never going to let that affect me.
I knew he was doing it on purpose, to soften the blow before saying what he truly wanted to say.
My heart was beating wildly. This was never how I imagined things would end, but there was nothing I could do about it. Absolutely nothing.
“You asked me to come,” I said. “I know she must have called you and told you something.”
