Chapter 09

1121 Words
Grey's POV Sickening. I really wasn't ready for this. I couldn't pretend to be in love when I have absolutely no interest in this thing called love. My only hope is that she will accept my offer. It would be easier for me to solve the problem using money than using my heart. After all, I no longer have a heart. My heart died a long time ago. Let's hope that the earlier step didn't make things worse. All I need to do is take her virginity to break the curse. And about the stone, I would ask her to give it to me after the curse is broken. Looked easy. After that, we can live separately and no longer need to have a connection with each other. I'll give her a lot of money, so she can probably use it for plastic surgery for her ugly face. With this attractive offer, she might accept the deal I give. Let's hope she's wise enough to accept my offer, my thought. These past few days have been so exhausting. Everything happened so fast that I forgot how to inhale and exhale. I couldn't enjoy my days as much as I used to. I kept thinking about how to get the stone and break the curse that befell my family without me having to pretend to love Elena. The sound of the cell phone that I put on the nightstand rang loudly. Maxime. That bastard finally called me. I've called and texted him many times today. To ask him something stupid about how to make a woman crazy about me quickly. "Hi, Max. I thought you were dead," I greeted after I put the wireless earphones in my ears. I flopped onto the bed and listened to Max's frustration with his human mates. I could only laugh when he told me his human mates were jealous of each other. "Max, didn't I tell you that being single is the best thing? We don't have to waste time and energy thinking about what if our mates get angry or cranky. We can do whatever we like without worrying about anything." Max laughed crisply. "Hey, hey, look who's talking. Have you forgotten that you're not single anymore?" Max burst out laughing at me. The sound of his laughter made me crazy. "How'd it gone? Is she a nice girl?" he asked excitedly. My fingers tapped impatiently against the pillow. I let my breath out slowly and replied, "I think so. But she's a little shy, doesn't know where her place is on the social ladder, so..." I trailed off and waited for Max to ask what else had happened. "And?" His voice was full of curiosity, as always. "Nothing happened, Max. I didn't even touch her. I mean, you know, I do not have an interest in making love or falling in love. It's s**t!" "Okay, so what makes you suddenly ask that? If you're not interested in love?" Max asked, this time in a harsh voice. "I had to do that. I mean, I had to f**k that girl. To break the curse on my family." I said honestly. And again, Max laughed f*****g so hard after hearing my explanation. "Grey, you make my stomach hurt from laughing so much." "Shut up, Max. And answer my questions quickly and clearly." "Alright, alright, you don't need to be so furious. It's easy peasy to get a girl to sleep with us. The first thing you have to do is make her crazy about you." "How? You know I'm not a loudmouth like you." "Shower her with compliments, look her in the eyes, and tell her that she is the most wonderful girl on the earth. Give her expensive gifts, and most importantly, give her a passionate kiss on the lips. I'm sure that way, and she'll give you whatever you ask for." Max laughed happily as he explained his skills to me. If I were Max's asshole, maybe this wouldn't be difficult. However, I am not Max, who likes to sleep with multiple women as often as he changes his socks. "And once she kissed you back and said your kiss was magical," he continued. "She won't have another man for the rest of her life. That's all you have to do." This is insane! I screamed inwardly. At first, I was one of those guys who thought that if they made it big and earned more money, women would fall in love with them. I believe that women like men who work hard and love them tenderly. However, it turns out that's not entirely true. In real life, women want to sleep with and marry men who can provide for their families, who are handsome, wealthy, and successful, and most of them don't want to be involved in the process of being successful but enjoy success. A woman didn't want a man who works for a living, who is dirty, tired, and miserable. They like those who present themselves as the ideal type of man who is secure, exciting, and wealthy. Why do I think so? Because I experienced it myself. My human mate betrayed me when I was struggling to build my business. And she chose another man who was far more established and influential. That is the reason why I want to be the strongest. And that's what made me learn to use my heart less I learned from her betrayal because I never gave up on our relationship. But eventually, I gave up. It took me years to forgive myself for my foolishness. I now know I was wrong for giving my heart to a woman who didn't deserve it, and I promise never to give my heart to her or anyone else again. All I need is power. That's why, after working so hard for so long after achieving success, I finally came home after being away for many years. After getting used to life without her, I realized I didn't miss her anymore. Not at all. I wasn't lonely. Not anymore. I have a company and a lot of money, and now I can spend every night always filled with fun and excitement. "Hey buddy, are you asleep?" Max asked when I didn't immediately respond. For a while, I was silent, thinking about Max's ideas that made sense. But of course, I would do that if the first option I offered was rejected. "No, no, I mean yes. I've been sleepy," I replied reasonably to end our conversation. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow. I'm very sleepy too." "Alright, thanks, buddy, for your advice. " "No worries, you need to pay me with a cup of robusta coffee tomorrow morning."
