Chapter 19
The Wanderer made contact with the barrier. Nothing happened for a few moments, then the ship was slammed to the left. Alarms flared in Jess’s head, warning of potential overloads on several of the jump engines. Jess automatically reduced their power, easing the strain, then tried to understand what was happening.
Had the barrier been solid after all? Had the Wanderer crashed into it? Moments later the ship was violently thrust to the right, dispelling that idea. He studied the ship’s surroundings and realised they had made it. They were through the barrier and into the final stage of their return to normal space.
The Wanderer pushed information into Jess’s mind. The violent movements had come from the Wanderer’s jump engines losing traction on the treacherous surface
