Chapter 20 Clay was cold. Ice cold. He didn’t care. He was at peace, and that was priceless. His face showed the hint of a smile as he gazed out at the wondrous beauty of empty space. There was nothing near. Nothing to spoil his view. Nothing to distract him from dying. And he was dying. He knew that. The hunger and thirst had passed. Lowering the temperature in the cockpit had seen to that. His body had shivered for a long time, fighting to keep him warm, but that had passed too. Now nothing distracted him from the view of space. His mind was too sluggish to think, and he had no desire to do so anyway. This was his way out. Not that he had any choice now. His fate had been sealed when he turned away from the remains of Greenseed, leaving the Imperial fleet behind him. G
