CHAPTER FOUR : THE INTRODUCTION OF THE COMMITTEE

YULIANA DRAGONORA (PRESENT)

Steph is the first one to speak .

"My name's Steph Blackwood. I have one younger sister and mother. My father died in a war when I was a child. I came to the military unit to make him proud. "

Steph says but he shows no emotion while saying all this. It's as if he's purposely hiding his feelings from us. I don't blame him I wouldn't want to open up to people I just met. But something about the way he describes his story makss me curious.

"Im monica verscotti. Im actually from the royal family and my status is a of a princess. Im from the neighbouring states.

After my father dies I am to inherit the throne of my city. Of all his children he ruined my life for his own way. I didn't get to choose my life I knew it was written for me the day he named me heir. "

She says. and I feel like giving her a hug so I do.

"Im Darcy everly. I studied in the top school's of our city to be here. My family supports my decision even though they're not very fond . "

Everyone nods.

"Im Louis warren. Im an only child and my best friend is Yulia here. Everyone already knew of my future. " louis says cheerfully.

I finally make up the courage to start.

"Im yuliana but everyone calls me Yulia.

I have a younger brother named Charles . he went into politics. My parents died when I was nine but both of them are very famous. My mother was the best planner and led three of redrook's most popular wars. And my father fought in all three of them as the best dragon rider of the century. It took long for people to forget about their deaths I almost died as well it was a house fire.

I lived with my aunt and uncle and they think im in politics but gere I am."

I think i might've made mine a trauma dump session but oh well what's the worst that can happen. Everyone looks stunned except for louis . monica squeezes my hand probably a gesture of empathy .

"We should get rest now." I say as i stand up heading for the door to our room.

"Do you miss them?" I hear steph say from behind me. that makes me stop mid track.

"Yeah I do. But I learned the hard way that missing them wouldn't do wonders. And that my life was in my hands and mine only". I say quietly before walking into the room and closing the door behind me.

I take a deep breath before looking around the room. there are exactly five beds four of them in corners and one near the one the end. I take the one furthest to the door And drop my bag. I didn't bring much. I read in a book course the less weight you carry the more chances of survival you have on the first examination. I push my bag under my head and when my head hits the pillow i feel instant relief.

(A few hours later.)

I feel someone shaking me . And my eyes fly open . it's darcy.

"Come on. get fresh rory will be here in an hour or so." I nod still sleepy as I get up. and my toe hits the end of the bed and i groan in pain. Louis laughs in my face and i flip him off before heading to the bathroom.

We all get ready by making our hair , washing our faces and the rest. Rory came back and then we're all walking downstairs.

"Are we the only batch of the blue team?" I ask rory as we're headed to our destination.

"No. there are two more batches consisting of fifteen students each batch." he says.

"How come our batch only consists of four people?" Darcy is the one who asks this question.

"Because you four were specifically noted for your skills in the first examination therefor put in one team." Rory says lazily.

"So basically toppers of the first exam?" monica asks from beside me.

"Yes" rory says. he's clearly annoyed.

its fun seeing him annoyed.

"I dont think I'll get the chance to tell you all this later so hear me out carefully. " he says his shoulders tensing.

"Your all on your own here. things are gonna be brutal one point or another . last year two people of the blue team were murdered by memebers of the red team. no authority took action. they're well aware of this serious rivalry and the authorities do nothing to stop it. In fact they think this makes us stronger. Be safe no one here has ever been safe or normal so don't expect normal. " he says . the air thickens around us and no one dares say a word everyone lost in their own thoughts.

A few minutes pass and we're all seated around the large table each and everyone looking nervous.

A guy enters and Rory stands up and looking or should I say glaring at him.

We all study the guy .he's wearing a bright cherry red leather jacket. his dark black eyes scanning each of us separately.

He doesn't like us. the darkness in his eyes, the anger he's trying to control, the left eye twitching his body language is showing more than his words or any appearance. My father once told me that if you want to take over any sort of subject you take them by using their own weaknesses against them and that can only be done by observing. no matter how hard dad tried to teach Charles the same thing he never really understood not Like me. this became my go to strategy.

"Michal " Rory says quietly. Acknowledging the guy's presence.

"Well.. well if it isn't our infamous Rory right? you really think you know what your doing ? just because you got verscotti and dragonora on your team doesn't mean their names can keep you safe. " Michal says . glaring at rory before breaking eye contact.

he turns to us and plasters a fake smile.

"Im the red team captain its an honour to be meeting you four. " he says his gaze lingering a little too long on louis.

he takes a seat infront of Monica and I feel her still from beside me. all of us are interrupted when men with the same green military uniforms from earlier walk in the room.

All of them take a seat at the table.

"Hello everyone " says on of the guy. we all nod a good morning to him.

"You are sitting on the places where you'll compete for. What I mean is no one has made to the general committee except for rory and Michal here who I assume you've already met. The thing is up until now after ten centuries only males have made it to the committee but there's no rule about a women or female not entering the inner circle so they can but beware only the best can enter in such a respected inner circle. "

He looks around. and then asks if we have questions.

"Why is it that there's only is four attending this meeting while I know of the fact that there are other students who passed the first test so how come its only us?" Darcy asks leaning further in to her seat.

"You four have passed the test in an astounding manner. you all have scored the highest numbers therefore only you are here for now. but here's the thing your not better than any of the other students and I want you to know. you'll meet your other batch of the team. and Michal will tomorrow introduce his own team and batch to you and rory.

Oh and just so you know the king of redrook has power more than this committee each and every order is discussed with him before it goes into action. "

the grand general speaks this time and dismisses us.

By the time we reach our lounge it's pretty late and everyone immediately starts getting ready for bed. maybe some rest might get my head off things too.

I lay in bed turning side to side but ofcourse I can't fall asleep. I close my eys but im not sleepy at all. and the room being completely dark isn't helping either.

I feel something or someone shift around but it's too dark so I'm assuming its just one of the team members.

I close my eyes again when suddenly someone screams in the quiet dark room.
