CHAPTER 24 Ariel's POV I walked into Dermos's hospital room. The machines beeped softly, with it being the only sound in the room. Dermos lay in the bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling, his face pale but composed. My chest ached against itself, but I stilled myself and fisted my palms by my sides instead. I moved quietly and stopped at the side of his bed, looking down at him. I was Ariella, his wife. I had to play the part. Dermos's gaze didn't move, but his lips curved slightly at the tip. “You shouldn't think I'm helpless just because you're seeing me like this, Ariella. I'd only gotten the gunshot on my stomach because the mansion was dark. That's all.” I didn't say anything. I just walked over towards him, and I stopped at the bedside, looking down at him. “How are you?” I asked
