CHAPTER 11 Ariel's POV Carlos. Of course. I turned, trying to look innocent. “I’m just.. just getting some fresh air,” I said, hoping he wouldn't see through my lame excuse. Carlos raised an eyebrow, obviously not believing me. “Fresh air? At 10 PM?” I swallowed, trying to think of an excuse. “Yeah, I just.. I couldn't sleep. I thought some air might help.” Carlos's expression didn't change. “I'm afraid it's not safe for you to be outside, ma'm. The guards are on high alert, and I wouldn't want anything to happen to you.” I raised an eyebrow at him. Who was he to tell me what I could or couldn't do? I was Dermos's wife, for crying out loud.
