18 Frank sat in his tent grappling with his feelings. There was no other explanation for how he felt, other than he was getting too close to Sarah. How did I let this happen? There’s no future for us—at least none I can see. And now, he had another thing to contend with: Greg’s reasons for climbing. In the back of his mind, the thought of Greg doing something stupid on the mountain worried him. He pressed his lips together. He didn’t want Sarah’s son anywhere near Pasang. But having seen how Greg struggled with his mother shutting out his father and hearing Sarah’s confession about the young man’s heartfelt desire to see the man he’d never known, he was conflicted.
