Apex Omegas are forbidden to exist. Born with a scent powerful enough to bring the strongest wolf to their knees, her kind is hunted. When a letter arrives offering sanctuary inside the infamous Alpha Prison, Kirsten must make an impossible choice: continue running for her life or enter the Controlled Dominance Response Trial. The trial promises money and protection. All she has to do is bond with the males assigned to her.

Now she's locked in Zeus Tower with men who should never be in the same room, let alone share a mate. The possessive childhood friend. The cold prince who refuses to be controlled. The charming rogue who likes to play with fire. And the mad genius who isn't supposed to be there.

Inside these walls, desire is weaponized, instincts are amplified, and one wrong move will get her killed, but Kristen isn't just a survivor. She was designed for this.

Chapter 1
Unknown POV “Miss Laurie, we are extending you a once-in-a-lifetime offer. The Alpha Prison is looking for unmarked females to participate in a unique study. Each participant will receive $100,000 upon completion, with the option to participate further, which could result in an additional $1 million in compensation. The requirements are simple. Each female will be assigned to one or more male inmates. Your goal is to connect with your study partner(s) to develop controlled social behavior so they can be returned to their packs…….” I wrote the letter in the quiet hours of the night, long after the others had gone to bed. The lights were dimmed across Zeus T, the most secluded corner of the Alpha Prison. The darkness suited me. It sharpened the mind and softened the edges of morality. In the dark, no one questioned why an inmate had access to a pen and paper. I pictured her, not her face, not yet, but the shape of her existence: An apex omega. The rarest kind. The kind hunted the moment her nature betrayed her. I hated that she was in danger, but people made interesting decisions when they were desperate. Soon she would walk among us. One woman. Four men. One experiment, no one else understood the way I did, not the prison, not the guards, not the researchers, not the king. Only me. Chapter 1 Kristen kept her eyes alert to her surroundings as she walked through the city's dirty alleys. She had been here too long. Someone had found her, and now she needed to move. Until three days ago, she had been living in a human homeless camp. The Royal Hotel was an old, abandoned building that a large homeless population had long taken over. She fought for her space in a linen closet and won. No one bothered her after they saw what she was willing to do to claim it. After the fight, covered in the other woman’s blood, she promptly crawled inside and slept. The four weeks she made the dark, moldy-smelling closet her home had been peaceful. Then one evening, she had returned from dumpster diving to find a manila envelope with her name scrawled on it stuck to the door with a knife. It had been embedded so deeply into the wood that she had to use all her body weight to remove it. Even now, she could feel the way her heart had pounded in her chest, the way her breathing had become too fast. Someone had found her. She didn’t stop to think things through. Didn’t question why they would leave a note instead of taking her, or worse, kill her outright. Instead, she tossed the envelope inside her bag and ran. She had put distance between her and the Royal, but she couldn't stop thinking about that damn envelope. It was like she could feel the weight of it in her backpack. She sighed deeply with relief when she reached a rundown truck stop. The front window read, “Showers $3.” After days on the run, she was ready to feel clean. Entering the store, she pulled three dollars from her dirty pants pocket. “I need a shower,” she told the clerk. The old woman nodded, taking her cash and handing her a token. “Number seven. It's clean, and there’s no men down there to bother you, honey.” Kristen gave her a small smile of thanks and followed the sign to the showers. The shower was bigger than expected, but didn’t have a bench, so she had no choice but to set her bag in the corner. The old woman was right, though; the shower was clean, and there were no sounds of other people nearby. Feeling safe for the moment, she turned on the water and dug in her pack for her small bar of soap. Steam began filling the room, but she didn't step into the warm spray of water. Instead, she pulled out the envelope. It weighed on her mind too much. It was time to read it. With a pit of nervousness in her stomach, she turned the flap back and peered inside. Her brow furrowed at what she saw. Reaching in, she pulled out two things: an ID with her picture, but instead of reading Kristen Laurie, it read Kris Lauren. The other object was a small glass vial of clear liquid, but it had no label. She shoved them back into the envelope and slid the letter out. Across the top, it read Alpha Prison: A Virgin Wanted. She frowned, “What the actual f**k?” She asked herself, tossing the letter on top of her pack, and entering the shower. The letter made her uneasy. Whatever disgusting things they had planned, she wanted no part of it. She washed quickly, before the water turned off, first her hair and then the rest of her body. Then she shoved her dirty clothes into the steaming stream of water and lathered them up. Without a towel, she used her only remaining clean shirt to dry off, then twisted it around her long, brown hair. The sound of a loud voice made her still. “Tell me, Margie, you didn’t see anyone interesting come in here?” She let the letter fall to the damp floor as she grabbed for her clothes. She needed to get out of here. She wasn’t going to risk the person asking questions being a hunter. Dressed in a worn pair of black jeans and a faded purple shirt, Kristen took the letter and envelope and shoved them back into her bag without further thought. “Nope. Same old group of people. Noting interesting ever happens in her.” Dear old Margie answered him. She gathered her damp clothes under one arm. “Well, time to move on,” she told herself. “If you see anything unusual, let me know.” She was in the hallway that led to the showers. “Why are you asking questions?” Margie asked him. He chuckled, “There’s a guy looking for someone. Said he would pay a reward. Didn’t give much information, though. Just a woman in her early twenties with brown hair. Probably looks like a bum passing through.” She held her breath, waiting for Margie’s answer. “Nah, haven’t seen anyone like that in here.” Kristen left the truck stop out a back door marked “employees only.” She stayed in the shadows and moved quickly with the goal of finding the railroad track. It would lead her to the next town and keep her off the roads. It was too easy for Omega hunters to find her if she used the regular travel routes. It didn’t take long for her to find the track, and she followed it for miles, her legs growing tired and her eyes heavy. Still, she continued walking. Her life depended on her ability to keep going even when she felt like she couldn’t. There was no safe place for her in this world. Hours later, Kristen woke, lying on her stomach, her head resting on the still-damp clothes, and the birds chirping softly in the early morning light. She rubbed her eyes, then glanced at the rusty tracks just a few feet from her, “s**t. I don’t even remember falling asleep.” She had pushed herself too far, leaving herself unprotected. She moved further into the trees and hung her clothes on the branches. They had been wet for too long and would now smell musty. Tucking her pack into the junction of two large branches, she took off her clothes. She shifted into her wolf form, the sun warming her light brown fur. Moving quickly, she sniffed out a rabbit and caught it easily. It dangled lifelessly in her teeth as she crept through the tall grass back to her belongings. She shifted back to her human form, dressed, and made a small fire before skinning the animal. Kristen set the meat over the flame to cook. She glanced over at her bag, feeling a little curious, and reached for the letter. “Miss Laurie, we are extending you a once-in-a-lifetime offer. The Alpha Prison is looking for unmarked females to participate in a unique study. Each participant will receive $100,000 upon completion, with the option to participate further, which could result in an additional $1 million in compensation. The requirements are simple. Each female will be assigned to one or more male inmates. Your goal is to connect with your study partner(s) to develop controlled social behavior so they can be returned to their packs. No study is without its risks, but the good news is that in the event you do not make it through the study, your compensation will be sent to your designated beneficiary. We know you’re on the run. If you want to live, reach Elpis Port by 1800 hours on Sunday. A guide will take you to Alpha Prison. When you arrive, make sure you use your new identity and the pheromone suppressant.” Kristen turned the page over, looking for more information, but there was nothing on it. No signature, or anything else. She was familiar with the Alpha Prison. It was a high-security facility, designed for the most dangerous and high-ranking criminals. Located on an island, it was impenetrable. It made her think of her childhood friend, Ronald. She hadn’t seen him in years, but she had heard he was locked up there for slaughtering his entire squad. She had been shocked and disbelieving when the news reached her. He was an honorable warrior. Why would he hurt his own people? She shook her head, clearing the thought of her friend from her mind. Putting the letter back in her bag, she reached for the rabbit, now well roasted, but before she could put one bite in her mouth, noises caught her attention—the rustle of the tall grass and low voices. “Hey, the scent leads this way. The omega can’t be far,” a male voice called out. “s**t,” she gasped, taking a large bite and dropping the rest into the fire. She kicked the dirt over the flame, pulled her bag onto her shoulder, and left her clothes hanging on the tree. She moved deeper into the forest, running parallel to the tracks. Kristen gritted her teeth, pushing herself to run faster as the footsteps made their way closer. She needed to do something; they were almost on her. The vial in her bag crossed her mind. The pheromone suppressant would remove her omega scent. It would hide her from the hunters; if it actually worked, it would give her a chance to get away. The envelope did give her a warning, so she could run before the hunters rushed into the camp. Should she believe it again? Making a last-minute choice, she turned toward the tracks and ran, her breath puffing out harshly. She jumped over the track and slid down the hill. Coming to a stop at the bottom, she shoved her hand into her bag and grabbed the vial. Breaking the top off, she put it to her lips and tilted it back. The suppressant was bitter on her tongue, but she forced it down.
