Kristen waited impatiently for the door to buzz open, but she wasn't prepared for what would happen when she stood in front of Aaron. His beautiful blue eyes were wide with fear, and sweat trickled down his face. When his gaze focused on her, relief flashed across his face, then faded. That moment broke her heart. Whatever his hallucination was showing him, he was scared for her.
The guard entered the cell and reached for Aaron. "What are you doing?" She demanded. "Letting him go." He called over his shoulder. Aaron attacks before the guard can get the cuffs off of him. His blows are brutal, efficient, and deadly. Kristen freezes, unable to move from her place in the doorway. Two guards rush in from behind her. One shoves her back, and it feels as if time is accelerating around her.
