I sat down silently next to Jake on the chair. Jonathan passed me his beer. "Oh, thanks." I thanked him. He just shrugged his shoulders. It seemed like it was becoming the standard answer to anything. I took a sip but then I realised how thirsty I was. I took one more good sip and put down the glass. It was almost empty. "Are you ok?" Jake asked me - the first words of the evening he addressed to me. Oh god, not again. I didn't want to talk again about my well-being. "I am fine, Jake," I replied.
