Jon’s smile melted as he sank into the couch beside Ari. And for another long moment, they stared at each other. It wasn’t until he busied himself with the cap of his drink, after he took a long swallow, that finally he said, simply, “Where did you hear that name?” His jaw ticked slightly, razing his stoic veil.
“Please, just answer me,” her plea cut through the silent room as they stared at each other.
Jon took another sip of water; with his eyes mirroring the debate that was no doubt wrangling in his mind as that bit of hell sparked in his orbs. His tone was smooth, though careful, “Yes. My name was Jonnach. Once upon a time.”
Ari crumbled, her eyes tearing up immediately. “And you are the one who has been trying to kill Adrian.”
