Chapter 19 Kate walked into the coffee shop all the cops frequented. It was close to Walker’s precinct, so she supposed that was why she had insisted on meeting here. She saw Kruso sitting at a corner table by the window with a cup of something hot and steaming. Kate waved and then ordered an espresso, feeling as if she needed a strong, stiff shot. She took the steaming cup with her and joined Kruso. “Thanks for meeting me,” Kate said, suddenly feeling awkward. “Sure, I’m just glad you called.
