Chapter 20 “Kate?” Walker called out after closing the front door. Her car was gone, and panic set in as he raced up the stairs and into the bedroom. His T-shirt was on the floor along with her jeans, a blouse, socks, and underwear. He pulled open her drawers and nearly sank to his knees in relief as he saw that all her clothes were still there. So she hadn’t left. He bent down and picked up the dirty things she’d tossed on the floor, then placed them in the laundry basket before sitting on the unmade bed.
