Chapter 22
Kate was asleep upstairs as Walker bolted the door and walked through the house again just to make sure everything was secure. He took in the empty space in the living room where the coffee table had once been. It was where he’d landed when he’d opened the door to Kate’s father, who’d tackled him and taken him over the sofa, landing with him on the table and breaking the legs. Her father had then punched him in the kidneys, and it hadn’t taken Walker long to figure out Jeff was a brawler. Walker was sure he’d be pissing blood for a few days. It had been a cheap shot, but Jeff was a man who loved his daughter.
