He locked the door as he took in the stairs. The house was quiet, but the tension from Kate’s parents still lingered. Now at least Walker had a better idea of why she’d balked at marrying him. He’d thought she was kidding about how screwed up her parents were, but relationships were a challenge in most families. Kate’s just took it to another level.
He scraped the plates of uneaten pasta into the garbage and wrapped up Kate’s, which she’d barely touched, before setting it in the fridge. When he felt a hand slip around his waist and Kate’s warm body press against his, he relaxed.
