The Twice Wedded Prince

Cadmael fumbled with the buttons on his cape, his hands shaking violently. The young elf grunted in frustration and slammed his hands on the vanity. His friend Dag chuckled and walked over to help. "Let me do it Cad." "I'm not a child. I can dress myself." He grumbled. "Hey, it's ok to ask for help and it's ok to be scared too." "I'm not scared!" Cad shouted. Dag held up his hands. "Ok, ok. I'm sorry. Just don't yell. We don't want you to strain your voice. The physician said it's healed up but we can't risk damaging it further." He finished and reached over to grab Cadmael's necklace. It was more like a bright, beaded collar and had been made to hide the long, pale scar on his throat. Cad carefully fastened it before looking in the mirror. "How do I look?" "Like a very anxious groom." Cad rolled his eyes. "Really Dag? I said I was fine." Dag laughed. "I'm just kidding. Just try to enjoy yourself alright?" Cadmael readjusted his robe a bit and sighed. "Alright. But I'm not going to make promises. I just...I don't want to have a repeat. I don't want this to end like last time." Bells ring solemnly in the distance. The elf took a deep breath before heading out the door. "It wouldn't do to be late for my own wedding now would it?" He thought.
