Splash of memories

344 Words
I saw him again, and the moment our eyes met, my mind flooded with memories I wish I could forget. If there were a way to erase every moment I shared with him, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. Maybe everything that happened is a blessing in disguise. The more I stared at his face, the more disgusted I felt. I began questioning myself: Why did I allow myself to marry this man? Why did I love him in the first place? And why is he here now? What does he want? I decided to close the curtain and curl up in bed, waiting for Kai to come home. When I heard the door open, I quickly jumped out of bed. Kai was here! I ran into his embrace and buried my face in his chest. He gently stroked my hair and kissed my forehead, filled with love. "I saw him," I said. I lifted my head and noticed his thick eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Who?" he asked. "Caleb," I replied. "f**k," he cursed, exhaling deeply. "Kai?" I called his name, raising my head to see his angelic face. "It's almost two in the morning. Why aren't you sleeping?" he asked. "I can't sleep," I replied. "Come here," he said gently, taking my hands and guiding me back to bed, where he lay me down. As morning came, we simply ate our breakfast. "Here," Kai said, gently taking the spoon from my hands and feeding me. "You don't like the food?" "No, I like it. I'm sorry for zoning out," I replied, realizing my mind was still troubled. After seeing Caleb last night, I couldn't stop thinking about him being nearby. "What are you thinking about? You seem lost in thought," Kai said. Just as I was about to reply, the door of the restaurant opened, and in walked Caleb with the same girl I had caught him in bed with. Kai, curious, turned to see what I was looking at. I saw his face darken, as if he were ready to murder someone.
