He rested his head on top of mine, his eyes full of assurance, assuring me that he will protect me.
"It's getting dark outside. I will just call for room service to deliver our food here. What do you want to eat?" he asked with his soft, tender voice, momentarily shielding us from the problems we were facing, acting as if nothing had happened.
"Pizza. I want pizza," I replied.
"Pizza? For dinner?" he hesitated.
"Yes, the pepperoni one," I insisted.
He chuckled, "Okay, okay." I caught a glimpse of his smile that he was trying to hide.
I got up and eagerly threw myself onto the bed, waiting for the food to arrive.
"For drinks, what do you want, Tesoro mio?" he asked, using an endearment in a language I didn't understand. I looked at him, confused.
"Lemon juice," I answered his question. "Tesoro mio? What does that mean?" I asked him. He just chuckled and didn't answer me.
"Kai," I said, demanding an answer to my question.
Fifteen minutes later, our food finally arrived.
"Finally, I've been hungry for a while now," I exclaimed.
Kaizen pulled out a chair for me. He was so gentle when it came to me. But sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder if what he was showing me was real. Was it because of his love for me, or just out of pity?
I didn't realize that I had been staring at the food for too long until Kaizen called me.
"Isla, are you okay, baby?" he asked.
"Uhmm... yes, of course. Let's eat."
I picked up a slice of pizza and took a bite. It was delicious. After we finished eating, I changed my clothes and went to bed.
"Kai, aren't you going to sleep yet?" I asked him.
"Nope, you can go to sleep first. I'm going somewhere. I'll be meeting someone. Don't worry, I'll be back," he said as he bid me farewell.
"Okay," I replied.
Before long, I fell asleep. I woke up feeling thirsty, realizing it was already 2:30 a.m. Kaizen still hadn't returned. Where could he have gone? He said he would be back soon.
I got some water and noticed how bright the moonlight was. As I gazed at the moon, I caught a glimpse of someone's face from the window. It looked familiar.
It was Caleb Salvador. He looked exactly like him. But why was he here?
