I finally sneak away from everyone, and this time, no one notices me leaving. I go straight to Andrew and wrap my arms around him. “Can we go?”
His hand gently rubs my back. “Is that what you want?” I nod against him. “Did they let you eat?”
“Yeah,” I tell him softly. “I ate.”
“Good,” he smiles at me. “Let’s go home.”
He takes my hand and starts to lead me to the door. “Shouldn’t we tell everyone goodbye?”
“Goddess, no,” he says, looking horrified. “If you go back in there, even for that, it’ll be another hour. Maybe two. Never, ever, turn back into the family. You won’t escape.”
