I’m ready to leave, but Laylah is so happy. I’m glad she decided to do our markings tonight. Rob and Stella are still here, and the love that my aunt is pouring into my mate is something she needs. Ada has hugged her half a million times, too. Even Jareth and Delilah came to celebrate with us, and they’ve both showered my girl with so much love.
The most surprising part of the evening, though, is how happy Cora has been. There’s not a hint of jealousy there at all. She’s been smiling and laughing with Laylah, as if the last few months didn’t happen. It’s as if she’s forgotten about everything with Ethan. I know she hasn’t, but it’s impressive how she’s able to push it all to the side for now.
Calvin comes up and squeezes my shoulder, pulling my attention from my mate.
