Laura's POV
"How do you assess generally the Guided Tour we embaked upon?" asked Alpha Daniel after I had tendered my unreserved apology on the use of the word chestbeat, which I earlier used against him.
"Well," I replied, "Just like I hinted briefly when we were right on the tour, everything you did was a great example of foresight. You were able to see beyond the present when you were conceiving and implementing all those projects."
"Can you really compare what you have seen on ground here to what you have seen in other Packs especially your former pack, the Golden Emerald Pack?" asked Alpha Daniel with a wide smile on his face.
"To be quite truthful, my dear, nothing comes close to what I've seen here when compared to what I've seen in other Packs I visited in the past, especially my former Pack. What I saw here is simply awesome.
"Have you now realized that I'm not on the same level with your former Alpha husband, Joshua? Have you now seen that I'm miles ahead of him?"
"Not only him, my dear. You are miles ahead of most Alphas I know. That's why I apologized to you earlier. You know, I had not yet seen anything when those thoughts were going on in my mind."
"Okay, my dear, now you've seen everything. Which of the projects do you find especially fascinating?"
I ran my right hand through my hair and blinked. "Well, all the projects are fascinating as far as I'm concerned. For example, let's start from even here, the Alpha's section. I found it very well planned in relation to others I have seen. Well, I didn't even start from where I was supposed to start from?"
"Where?" he asked, turning completely to face me.
"From the size of the palace itself. Even though not all Alphas live in palaces, like in my former Pack what we have is the Alpha's mansion which is not anything close to this. Even for those who have palaces, like the Alpha of the Blue Mountain Pack, it is nowhere near as big as this. So you did a very nice job here."
"Really?"
"Yes, my dear. Besides, those 10 guest residences are simply fanstic idea like I said while we were inspecting them. Though a few other Alpha palaces I saw have guests residences, they are not as well laid out as this.
Talking of guest residences, what we have in the Alpha's mansion in my former Pack are a few guest rooms for visiting Alphas and other guests. So this is highly innovative and highly commcommendable.
"I'm wowed by the two halls, I mean the foresight behind them. The council hall and banquet hall are very important in the Alpha's palace. Though the council hall looks quite big for a residential palace, it is an effort in foresight, but will still continue to serve for many years to come. For the banquet hall, there will be no need to have private parties in the pack house. Private things should be private and public things should be public."
"Alright my Luna, what about the palace gardens?" he asked. "What is your impresion about it, dear?"
I sighed heavily. "That is simply breathtaking, Alpha Daniel. Yes, it's quite possible to have recreational gardens or parks in many Alpha mansions or palaces, but I had not seen any that occupies more space and is more beautiful than this one, to be quite honest. It occupies quite a sizable portion of land and it is occasionally opened to other Wolves apart from those living here in the palace, you said."
"Yes, you are quite correct, my Luna. From time to time, we open it for other Wolves not living in this palace to come in and make use of the park and it's few facilities.. I want to take note that this pack community also has a garden, though it is bigger. That one is for general use of everyone."
I nodded my head. I couldn't help but marvel again at the ingenuity of Alpha Daniel and others who conceived and developed this place to it's present standard.
They have done a job which is worthy of emulation by other Packs.
I consider myself to be in great luck to be associated with Alpha Daniel and everything I'm seeing here. I have special gratitude to the moon goddess- for arranging all of these.
Funny as it may sound, I am also grateful to Shirley for what she did to us which brought about the chain reaction that has led to all these.
Seriously, if Shirley had not done what she did, chances are that I could still be a resident of the Golden Emerald Pack and be totally oblivious to what is happening here, not to even t talk of the chance of becoming the Luna of this fantastic place. But even though I have her to thank, that does still not stop my revenge plans. I would still carry them out to the letter.
The indecisive attitude of my former husband also paved the way for me to find myself here. Come to think of it. If Alpha Josh had stuck to our agreement and rejected Shirley as soon as he met her, I could have still remained married to him. So he also indirectly brought about the chain reaction. Even though I've not included him among those to be punished for their sins against me and my associates, I want to say it serves him right. He got what he deserved losing me to another man.
I was still processing my thoughts about the Guided Tour when I looked at my side and realized that Alpha Daniel had dozed off. I suspected that much because for the past few minutes or thereabout, I didn't hear him talk anymore.
I continued to ponder over some other issues until I realized I had started to feel sleepy. Within a few minutes, I had slept off.
.............
The meeting of the ranking wolves where I would be formally introduced to them had been fixed for today. It's about 8 o'clock in the morning already and the meeting has been fixed for ten o'clock this morning.
The idea behind this first meeting is for the ranking wolves to know me and welcome me to the the pack before I would be formally introduced to the general body of wolves. When Alpha Daniel first suggested the idea, I keyed into it immediately because I found it very reasonable. In order to accord the ranking wolves some measure of respect, it was important for me to be introduced to them first before a general meeting is convened where I would be formally introduced to all other wolves. That's how it should be otherwise, feathers could be ruffled.
The Alpha said as we woke up this morning that he had already mindlinked all those concerned to inform them about the meeting which would be held in the Alpha's office in the council hall that we inspected yesterday. It would afford me the opportunity to have a feel of the office.
Alpha Daniel is presently not inside the room. He went out of the room to do one or two things in other parts of the palace as soon as he gave Sandra instructions to go prepare breakfast for us. They are doing that right now and I expect him back in the room before they come back with the food.
Some minutes later, the door opened and Alpha Daniel came in. "Are we still waiting for Sandra and her team to come in with the food?" he asked calmly.
I nodded. "We are still waiting for them, I think they should have been here by now. I don't know what has been keeping them."
My stomach had already started giving me a hint. I want to believe that Alpha Daniel is also feeling like wise judging by the expression on his face.
I saw him trying to fish out his phone from his pocket, but before he could bring it out, there was a gentle rap on the door and it opened.
Sandra came in accompanied by two of her assistants carrying trays bearing our food.
"I was just trying to call you when you came in," said Alpha Daniel. "Hope there was no problem getting the food prepared."
Sandra bowed her head apologetically. "There was a little hitch, sir. We couldn't find the key to one of the refrigerators and it contains vital supplies we would use. Apparently one of us had misplaced it the last time we opened it. But we eventually found it and Immediately continued with the cooking. I'm sorry for the delay, sir. Sorry for the delay, Luna."
"It's alright, Sandra, I understand," said Alpha Daniel. He then looked at me for my reaction.
My reaction, as usual was very understanding. "Don't worry about apologizing, Sandra. I and the Alpha understand the little problems you do face from time to time. So it's nothing to worry about."
Sandra nodded her head and smiled with relief.
Her two assistants had already served the food on low stools for our convenience.
Almost immediately, we set about devouring the food. A few minutes later, Alpha Daniel finished his food and told me he would be on his way to the council hall right away. He appeared to be in a hurry to get some things done over there before the meeting starts.
"Laura, I won't be able to wait for you in order for us to get to the council hall together. You'll have to meet me there when you are done. I have some important things to get done before the meeting starts, okay?"
"Like what, honey, so I'll whether I could be of help?" I asked, taking another sip of my drink.
"Well, don't worry, dear. I did quite a lot before I came back in earlier. For example, I got some wolves to clean the hall, including our offices. So, don't worry, Luna, just a little left to do."
I nodded my head. I quickly finished eating my food and made arrangements to start preparing to go to the council hall to have a feel of my office before the meeting commences.
