Laura's POV.

The clandestine meetings between my husband and his mate came to an end when he finally brought her in to live with us in the Alpha's mansion. If Alpha Josh expected me to raise a fight immediately and try to stop him from bringing in her things, he was mistaken.

"Have you now finally brought her in?" I asked when I saw my husband and Shirley coming in hand in hand with two wolves carrying some big bags which were obviously her belongings.

"Yep, she is here to stay with us," he answered without betraying any emotion. "I want her to be well taken care of, so it's better she comes in right away. I told my told my friend Alpha Lucas and we reached an understanding."

For a reply, I looked at him with a frown and shook my head.

Shirley was clinging to him.

"Good morning, Luna," she greeted with what looked like a smirk. "Hi," I responded in a barely audible voice and raised my hand. I was too shocked to make a better response and not responding to her greetings would have given me out as being too petty. I couldn't afford to appear to look like that, at least not in the presence of his aides.

"Take those bags upstairs," he instructed his aides as they made to drop the bags.

They quickly obeyed and moved upstairs.

After a little moment of hesitation, he winked at me and said, "she needs to go upstairs and have a short rest."

Suddenly, he carried her on his arms and climbed the stairs, kissing her on the cheeks as they made their way upstairs.

The two wolves who carried her luggage soon came down, bowed their. heads to me in deference and left.

As I sat on the sofa in id living room, I tried to clear my thoughts and come to terms with what was going on. I mean, my husband of five years showing preference for another woman right in m y presence? Even smooching and kissing her without batting an eyelid?

Yes, he did all that in the name of finding his mate.

Yes, she's his mate, I can't deny him of his mate since he's found her. Of course, I always knew he would eventually find her. But there's an agreement we had that he should reject her. I now see he's unwilling to do so.

Also, we are married and I expect him to honor our marriage vows.

On top of all that, her wicked act of terminating my life together with six of my associates would never endear me to her. Rather, it would make me more determined to get rid of her.

As I continued to process my thoughts, I heard the footsteps of someone coming down the stairs. It was Alpha Josh.

He came directly to where I sat on the Sofa and wrapped his arms around my waist. My first instinct was to yank away his hand to show him I was still hurting over his decision to bring Shirley into the house.

But, on second thought, I dropped the plan so as not being seen as unnecessarily jealous. I let his hand stay around me.

"Hi, my Luna," he said after he plopped into the Sofa right beside me.

"How do you really expect me to respond to you after knowing you had slept with her?" I replied.

"Why do you assume that I actually did? I might not have done so. I only took her upstairs to usher her into her room and show her a few places. Besides, she said she wanted to rest."

I chuckled. "okay, so you decided to stay up and rest with her after showing her wherever, leaving your beloved Luna alone in the living room for so long?"

"Oh dear, not the way you think," he said, tightening his hold around my waist and kissing me on the head."You know she has just moved in with us and needs company."

"Okay, but you flouted our agreement."

"Which of the agreements?" he asked, turning to face me.

"Virtually everything we agreed upon, my dear," I replied. "We did agree you would reject her, didn't we?"

He ran his fingers through his hair and then shook his head.

"Yeah, I remember we agreed on that, but it was hard for me to do, I must admit. As soon as my wolf saw her, he went on rampage.He has been excited since then."

"Okay, what about the decision to bring her in here? it was wrong, you should have left her in her pack," I said.

He sighed. "That is also very hard to do, my Luna. My wolf has been excited since seeing her and wants her to be with us. Besides, there is no point leaving her there when she can be better treated here."

"What about our marriage vows?" I asked my Alpha mate.

He smiled. "You have nothing to worry about, my Luna. Our marriage is intact. You are still my Luna and you would remain so. Nothing has changed. Be assured that I only bought Shirley in here so she would have a sense of belonging and be better treated."

I sighed. "Okay."

A few moments later, he stood up from the sofa, gave me a pat on the back and climbed the stairs to go upstairs.

There he is-going to meet her again, I thought to myself.
