Vivian thought she was finally ready to give Noah everything.

After two years of dating, she had spent seven months saving for his anniversary gift and had even bought the perfect red lingerie for the night she planned to finally take their relationship to the next level.

Instead, she walked into his bedroom and found him with her best friend, Maya.

The betrayal gets worse when Vivian discovers they have been secretly together for a year and six months.

Humiliated, heartbroken and thrown out of the apartment she once called home, Vivian drives away with nowhere to go.

Then she crashes into a stranger's Range Rover.

Damian Blackwood.

A billionaire heir who is supposed to be missing.

Unlike Noah, Damian doesn't blame her. He doesn't yell. He doesn't demand payment for the damage.

He asks if she's okay.

Their encounter should have ended there.

But fate has other plans.

Damian is fighting a battle inside the Blackwood family. His grandfather is dying, the family empire needs a successor, and his uncle Richard is determined to take the position Damian was born to inherit.

Vivian wants nothing to do with billionaires, complicated families, or any other relationship.

Damian has no intention of falling in love.

Then they meet again.

And again.

And somewhere between Damian protecting Vivian and Vivian becoming the only person who sees the lonely man behind his billionaire mask, something neither of them expected begins to grow.

But Damian's family has secrets.

Richard has an agenda.

Noah and Maya aren't willing to let Vivian move on.

And when Vivian becomes the one thing Damian cannot afford to lose, she becomes the easiest weapon to use against him.

Damian Blackwood has spent his entire life learning that everything comes with a price.

Until Vivian.

THE BETRAYAL
The sales agent laughed, then carefully placed the platinum wristwatch on layers of black satin before sliding it into a luxurious gift box. "Congratulations. You have officially won girlfriend of the year." "Is that what you think?" I asked, unable to keep the grin off my face. "I've worked here for four years. Nobody buys a watch this expensive unless they're hopelessly in love." Hopelessly. The word made me laugh. "I guess that's me." The engraving had taken nearly forty minutes, but it was worth every second. To forever and beyond, happy anniversary, my love. Love always, Vivian. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. The watch alone had cost seven months of savings. I had picked up several jobs, said no to girls' nights, and worn the same pair of heels repeatedly until they begged for retirement—all so I could afford something unforgettable. Noah deserved it. Something he would glance at and instantly think of me. Today marked our second anniversary. And tonight... I was finally going to say yes. Yes to him, and yes to s*x. I had bought a set of red lingerie. I'd spent a ridiculous amount of time choosing it. I wanted our first time together to be as unforgettable as the day itself. My phone buzzed. Noah. I answered immediately. "Happy anniversary." "Happy anniversary, baby." His voice melted my heart through the speaker. "Where are you?" I looked around, as if I had forgotten where I was. "Still stuck at work." "You are a terrible liar." I laughed. "I know." "So... where are you really?" "Running errands." "What kind of errands?" "The secret kind." "I don't like secrets." "You will like this one." Silence lingered for a second before he laughed. "When are you coming over?" I glanced at my watch. "In two hours." "Two hours?" He scoffed playfully. "Blink, and it's two hours already." I laughed. "I just did, and you're still not here." "You will survive." "I don't want to survive. I want my girlfriend." Heat crept into my cheeks despite the crowd. "I'll make it worth the wait." "You'd better." We hung up, both smiling. --- Outside, the evening sun painted the city gold. Everything felt cinematic, like I was walking through the final scene of a romantic movie. I balanced the shopping bag on a nearby bench and took a picture. No caption. I messaged the person who had helped me plan every anniversary since Noah and I started dating. Me: Mission accomplished. Typing bubbles appeared instantly. Maya: Girl, that's gorgeous. Me: Too much? Maya: Not even close. He's going to lose his mind. I laughed. Me: Don't ruin the surprise. Her reply came three minutes later. Maya: Trust me, he won't see it coming. I smiled. I slid my phone into my purse and walked toward my car. I hummed along to the song playing on the radio as I drove toward Noah's apartment, completely unaware that every traffic light that made me stop was also counting down to the worst moment of my life. --- When I arrived, there was no music. No sounds. No sign of life. The apartment looked abandoned. Maybe he'd stepped out to buy drinks. Maybe he was setting up his own surprise. I used the spare key he'd given me on his birthday. The door clicked open. "Baby?" I called cheerfully. Silence. I stepped inside, setting down the gift on the kitchen island. Then I heard it. A laugh. A woman's laugh. Soft. Familiar. Coming from upstairs. I frowned. "Maya?" I whispered to myself. What was she doing here? Before I could answer my own question, Noah's voice drifted down the hallway. Noah. His voice was low. Tender. The kind of voice he'd always reserved for me. My steps quickened. One step. Then another. The staircase suddenly felt endless. The voices became clearer. The bedroom door was almost shut, just enough to peek inside. My fingers hovered over the handle. The laughter stopped. Then Noah said something that made the blood drain from my face. "I told you she'd be here." I pushed the door open. My lips parted. "... Maya?" Neither of them rushed to explain. Neither of them looked ashamed. Maya looked at me with an expression so blank it made my stomach twist. "Noah." My voice cracked as I looked at him. "Tell me I'm dreaming." He sighed, rubbing his hand over his face. "Vivian..." "Tell me," I shouted, "tell me this isn't real." Silence. "How long?" Neither of them answered. "How long?" Maya adjusted the sheet on her chest. "A year and six months." Everything inside me froze. "What?" "Vivian, Noah and I have been together for a year and six months." I stared at her, then I laughed. Not because anything was funny, but because my mind refused to believe what my ears had heard. "No... that's impossible." I turned to Noah. "She's lying, right?" "What will you have me do, Vivian?" I blinked. "What?" "I have needs. I got tired of waiting while you spent your entire life working. I needed s*x. I needed to feel like a man. And you failed to give me that. You cringed at every touch. Did you really think I would wait for you?" The words landed like knives. I turned to Maya. "So every time the three of us went out together, you two were already a thing? Every time you gave me relationship advice, every time you helped me pick gifts for him... it was because you already knew what he liked? You watched me fall in love with him." "You did that on your own, Vivian." "You told me he was lucky to have me." "You needed to hear it." I couldn't believe she said that. A tear rolled down my cheek. "Noah," I called softly. "You made me believe we had a future." "I'm sorry, Vivian. But I love Maya." "Sorry?" I looked around the room, suddenly noticing things I had ignored before. A perfume I had never seen. A pink scented candle. How many times has she been here? "How long have you been lying to me?" Maya laughed. "It's nothing personal. He found a better woman in me. You have to learn to live with it." The statement echoed in my ears. "What?" "You were always the interruption. The one who thought everyone had to play by your rules." I stared at Noah, desperately. "Say something." He remained silent. "Tell her she's wrong." Another silence. "So every 'I love you'..." "I meant it then." "Then?" "People change. So did I." Tears rolled down my eyes. The room fell quiet. I wiped my face. "I got you an anniversary gift." "You should return it." Those words hurt more than anything else. Months of savings. Seven months of planning. Reduced to nothing. "I can't believe either of you." "You'll get over it," Maya said flatly. I stared at her. "You're really not sorry?" "For what?" "For betraying me!" She scoffed. "You've been living in a fantasy, Vivian. We simply stopped pretending." Noah walked to the doorway. "I think it's time for you to leave." I blinked. "Leave? This is my home too." "This isn't your home anymore. I packed your things this morning." He pointed toward the hallway. "You planned this?" Neither of them denied it. I rushed down the hallway. My suitcase was already there. Every bag I owned was lined up neatly against the front door. Everything I owned had already been packed. Like I'd never existed. Slowly, I turned. Maya slipped her hand into Noah's. Neither of them let go. Noah met my eyes one last time. "You'll be happier if you just let go." Before I could respond, he opened the front door, dragged my luggage outside, and dropped it on the porch. The door slammed shut. Click. The deadbolt locked. Click. The security latch followed. I stood there, surrounded by the pieces that No longer belonged to me. I picked up my suitcase and walked toward my car. I thought that apartment was where my life ended. I had no idea it was where the real story was about to begin.
