To say Lennon was disappointed in Kuznetsova’s escape would be the understatement of the year. He didn’t try to deny the sharp stab of fear that jolted through his spine when Ben told him the bad news. Of course, the fact that he’d been kept in the dark about the operation to get rid of her in the first place still rankled. Then again, he’d been keeping Ben in the dark for a good, long time himself.
Maybe he couldn’t cast stones.
Of course, he’d been keeping Ben in the dark about something that couldn’t end his life. Ben had been keeping him in the dark about the person trying to kill him. Ben also hadn’t had much of a chance to get him alone, and their relationship still had to be kept sort of quiet in front of other people from the agency.
