Chapter 1

Avery POV

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" my younger sister and older brother pounced on me to wake me up.  

"Thanks..." I groaned in pain when my sister jumped on me, being a werewolf makes you a lot stronger than normal girls. 

"Happy Birthday Honey." my parents said in unison, standing by my bedroom door. 

I loved my family so much - my younger sister by 1 year Kyra, my older brother Jacob who was 21 and my parents. My dad was the Beta of our pack and my brother was soon to take over. 

After receiving a few more wishes my family left my room. I slowly and sadly crawled out of comfy bed and made my way to the bathroom. After having a quick shower I tied my hair into a bun and and put on an oversized grey hoodie, black leggings and my converse.

When I got down my mum had prepared me a delicious breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and a cup of iced coffee. 

"Thanks mum," I chirped before I started digging in.

"Anything for the birthday girl." she said with a warm smile.

Soon loud stomps and shouts were to be heard as my crazy siblings ran down the stairs. Fortunately I had finished eating before they came down otherwise there would probably be none left for me. 

"Bye Guys!" I yelled as I was halfway out the door already.   My mum gives me a small wave but my siblings are too engrossed in their food to even notice. 

My best friends, and only friends, Hannah and Joshua had come to pick me up since they're my ride to school. 

"Happy Birthday!" they both cheered. 

"You're finally 17 you can find your mate now," Joshua suggested with a dirty smirk and wiggling eyebrows. 

"Yeah I can't wait..." I said with a sigh.

A mate is another wolf that the Moon Goddess pairs you up with. They're basically your other half and people love their mates more than they love themselves. I couldn't wait to finally meet my soulmate - someone who would love me unconditionally.

When we walked into school Joshua went to his mate, Ashley and they shared a cute kiss and went off to their class together. Seeing them just made me even more excited to meet my mate. 

"You know I've been in school for 5 minutes and I've seen Ryder swap spit with 3 different girls." Hannah informed me.  I just rolled my eyes.

Ryder Evans. 

He's the most popular guy ever and literally stole his looks from a god. Every girl, including me, had a massive crush on him. Even though I never spoke to him, it never hurt to look. 

I made my way to my locker which was on the other side of the hallway to friends lockers. I opened my locker and got my books out. After struggling to close my locker for about 5 minutes I just stood there messing with my key. I then realised that I was just twisting it the wrong way. 

When I was finally done a turned around to make my way to class when I was slapped in the face by the fresh scent of linen and oak. "Mate! Mate!" my wolf inside yelled happily.  

All of a sudden, someone had covered my eyes with their hands and dragged me somewhere. I screamed and tried to escape but whoever this was they were strong.

"LET GO OF ME  YOU MURDERER!!" I screamed and then was dropped to the ground. We were in the janitors cloest. I got up and rubbed my hand over my bum since it became sore from blocking my fall. 

In front of me stood Ryder Evans. 

"Mine." he growled. His wolf had taken over as I could see his eyes darken. 

My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. Ryder Evans was my mate!

FANGIRL MOMENT!!!!

After taking a good look at me Ryder spoke, his human form was back in control now. 

"Who are you?" He said, looking at me with disgust. 

"A-Avery, Avery Collins." I whispered. 

My heart stopped and my breathing hitched as the next words fell out of his mouth.

"I, Ryder Evans, reject you, Avery Collins, as my mate.."
