CHAPTER 02 : HE'S BACK?

SUNNY ROWEN (PRESENT)

I freeze as I stare into the guy ahead of me all of my muscles tensing.

Ricardo Valencio stands infront of me not breaking eye contact staring into my eyes as panic slowly starts to take over. Its only been a few months since college started and I have to face Ricardo and that fact in general terrifies the living hell out of me.

Last year when my brother tris and nicole were solving Lynda's case something terrible happened as my brother sent Ricardo to jail for blackmailing Lynda to steal for him. I knew that once my brother was out of college and once Ricardo was out of jail he would come for me and I was sure of it. I was used to cleaning up after my brothers mess in situations but Im not sure I'll be able to in this one. He'll probably ruin my bit of life for what tris did to him and there will be absolutely no one in this college who will dare get on the bad side of Ricardo that is if they aren't already.

I never encountered him face to face though so I really don't know what to expect and I'm blonde but not THAT dumb to try and persuade an understanding with him when I know for certain all he'll seek from me is revenge . He stare , stares , stares. before I look away and addie alongside me catches my view and lets out a gasp . people in the hallways all start staring and I feel pressure on my chest its like someone is pressing physical weight on me. addie instantly realizes the situation and my frozen state probably and drags me to the ladies restroom. I glance making sure there's no one around and its as if addie reads my mind as she engulfs me in a warm hug only then do I finally exhale and breathe in peace.

"I really don't know much , But I know you feel threatened by Ricardo. you shouldn't you let people dictate the things you feel sunny, and ever since I've been your best friend I've tried to eliminate this thing from your life and I will continue to do so wether you like it or not, because this is whats best for you." Addie says and my insides warm from her soft tone and dedicated words because I know she means every word she says.

I give her a nod and a smile. its been weeks since I smiled.

I breathe and clear my face, I act as if im okay because that's the only thing I can be good at. pretending. presenting everyone with a smile to make sure they're happy.

I walk out the restroom with addie by my side and take my chemistry class and I try to concentrate but that feels tiresome.

finally school comes to an end. me and addie walk to the parking lot. she tells me all about her little sister Morgan.

Morgan is addie's younger sister and an angel she's only a child but a rebellious and at the same time a sweet one. she's only seven but she and I got along when me and addie lived close.

addie walks to her car as I give her a hug and give my goodbyes and wait for her car to leave before turning to leave when suddenly I stop in my tracks as I see Ricardo walking towards my direction. My breath hitches but no way in hell will I let this guy know he scares me and he might, but I won't show vulnerability. nicole told me how it goes if you do that.

A few other guys linger around him as some chicks would. he stops infront of me and I do my most dramatic eye roll before walking past him .

"The newest rowen are you? your all the same acting all mighty, righteous and high but in the end you both are messed up one way or another. "

he says his voice low but steady.

I scoff before replying

"Oh my, your one to talk do you actually think even if for a second that your better than me or tris" I say sarcasm evident in my tone.

"its good to dream big Ricardo, Even if my brother crushed your high ego its good to see your foolish mindset hasn't changed. And I need you to keep in my mind that I am not my brother and I will have no mercy snipping off your balls."

his eyebrows shoot up and I'm suprised they don't reach to his forehead.

he opens his mouth to say something , when out of nowhere a figure comes in between me and Ricardo I only see the guy's back and dark brown hair. I instantly recognize the person.
