In the suffocating, pitch-black darkness shrouding the perimeter of the ancient Shiva Temple, those two crimson-red eyes snapped fully open.
The darkness was unnatural, heavy, and freezing. The stone foundations of the ancient ruins seemed to absorb the frigid chill. Echoing rhythmically across the flagstones, the sound of slow, calculated footsteps reverberated through the night air—THAK... THAK... THAK... With every step, an invisible gravitational weight seemed to press down on the surroundings.
Inside the quiet sanctum, Harsh and the 90-year-old Sadhu stood frozen, their eyes locked onto the main archway entrance. The humid night air began to carry a repulsive, decaying odor mixed with the sharp metallic stench of oxidized iron. Suddenly, a blast of arctic wind rushed into the sanctum. It wasn't the natural chill of the night; it felt like the cold breath of a desolate cemetery. Harsh’s entire body trembled violently, a surge of pure dread shooting straight down his spine.
Overcome with terror, Harsh tightened his grip around the ancient black Rudraksha bead in his right hand.
Then, out of the swirling darkness, a massive silhouette emerged onto the temple courtyard. This was the first true manifestation of the Shadow Executioner. Initially, only his towering, broad-shouldered eight-foot outline was visible—a dark wraith wrapped in writhing shadows as though the night itself were his armor. Moments later, a razor-sharp, glowing Red Shadow Blade ignited in his right grip. Wisps of crimson spectral fire floated off the steel, curling into the damp air like predatory serpents.
Yet, his face... his face was completely obscured behind a pitch-black mask and impenetrable layers of cosmic shadows. Not a single human feature could be discerned.
Witnessing the terrifying entity, the Sadhu placed a firm, steady hand on Harsh’s trembling shoulder, delivering a chilling command:
"Do not attempt to fight him, Harsh... right now, you are nothing more than a speck of dust before his might."
Before the Sadhu could even finish his sentence—FUSSSHHH!
Every single clay oil lamp flickering inside the sanctum was extinguished simultaneously without a breath of wind! Absolute, pitch-black darkness swallowed the temple whole. Harsh’s heart pounded so violently against his ribs that the sound echoed inside his own eardrums.
One minute passed... then two...
The silence was deafening, the tension suffocating. Suddenly, a low-frequency hum resonated around the central Shivling. Drifting upward from the ancient pedestal, a swirling ring of intense Violet Energy manifested in the air! Reacting instantly to the celestial energy, the ancient Violet Sigil (Trishul emblem) carved over Harsh’s heart flared with agonizing heat! A searing pain surged through his chest as if boiling acid had been poured into his veins. For the very first time, his dormant supernatural core had instinctively activated in response to an approaching enemy.
From the dark courtyard outside, a deep, guttural voice tore through the stone walls, shaking the very earth beneath their feet:
"The First Host... at long last, I have found you."
The moment the words died down, the shadows behind the Executioner parted, and a massive, reptilian black beast lunged forward! Its yellow eyes burned with hunger as its obsidian talons reached directly for Harsh’s throat!
Harsh’s survival instincts took over completely. Driven by the surging violet energy pulsing through his veins, Harsh stepped forward with blinding agility and drove a devastating fist into the monster’s skull—BOOM!
The sheer kinetic force sent the beast flying 15 feet across the stone floor! But before Harsh could draw breath, two more demonic beasts breached the threshold, launching a coordinated strike from both flanks! Harsh pivoted, planting a brutal kick into the abdomen of the first creature, and grabbed the second beast by its throat, slamming it violently against the temple pillars! Both beasts crashed to the ground, howling in agony.
A fourth demon snarled, preparing to charge the young host, but the Shadow Executioner raised his glowing crimson blade, halting the beast in its tracks. The Executioner observed that amidst the chaos of combat, Harsh had stepped out of the inner sanctum into the open stone courtyard.
The Executioner spoke in an icy, detached tone: "The Host has stepped outside... Now, I shall handle him myself."
Harsh felt an overwhelming, suffocating presence materialize behind his back. Relying on raw reflex, he spun on his heel and unleashed a full-powered punch aimed directly at the Executioner’s masked jaw!
CLANG!
Harsh’s fist tore through the air... but without moving an inch, the Executioner caught Harsh’s bare knuckles effortlessly in his left palm! It felt as though Harsh had punched an immovable mountain of solid bedrock. The Executioner neutralized the superhuman blow as casually as one would catch a falling leaf.
Harsh gasped, looking up in sheer disbelief to meet the Executioner’s concealed gaze... when suddenly—BAMMM!
The Executioner drove a brutal, devastating counter-punch straight into Harsh’s chest!
The catastrophic impact launched Harsh 20 feet backward through the air, hurtling violently toward the jagged stone wall of the temple! Crashing into the stone at that velocity would have pulverized his ribcage and shattered his spine.
Yet, in that precise fraction of a second... the black Rudraksha strapped around Harsh’s right wrist ignited with radiant heat!
SHHHHNNN!
Erupting from the ancient bead, a massive, impenetrable Golden Spherical Barrier enveloped Harsh’s entire body! Encased within the divine sphere, Harsh struck the jagged wall, but the barrier absorbed the entire kinetic shockwave, shielding his bones from destruction! He tumbled onto the grass, bruised and breathless, but alive. In that terrifying moment, Harsh realized the Rudraksha was no mere trinket—it was an ancient celestial aegis!
Witnessing the assault, the 90-year-old Sadhu soared into the air from the sanctum! Channeling a massive surge of pure spiritual energy through his sacred staff, the Sadhu unleashed a blinding wave of celestial force directly at the Executioner!
KABOOOOM!
The holy blast was so catastrophically powerful that even the Shadow Executioner was overwhelmed by the kinetic force, thrown 30 feet backward across the courtyard before crashing into the dirt!
The Executioner slowly rose to his feet. Reaching up, he wiped away a trickle of blackish-crimson blood leaking from the edge of his dark mask. Locking his crimson gaze onto the Sadhu, he growled maliciously:
"Old man... you cannot shield him forever."
With a flick of his wrist, the Executioner raised his right hand toward the heavens. A blinding beam of malevolent crimson energy erupted from his blade, hurtling straight toward the Sadhu's chest! The Sadhu chanted an ancient Sanskrit hymn, manifesting a temporary mystical shield to arrest the deadly beam mid-air.
HSSSSSS!
Upon impact, the crimson beam dissolved into a thick, suffocating cloud of Crimson Smoke, blanketing the entire courtyard in complete obscurity. With a wave of his hand, the Sadhu banished the mystical fog... but the courtyard was empty. The Executioner and his demonic entourage had vanished into thin air!
The Sadhu turned his gaze toward Harsh, who was sitting on the ground, bruised, trembling, and panting heavily. Harsh stared back at the old holy man with wide, terrified eyes, desperate for answers.
Meanwhile, back at the hotel room, Natasha tossed and turned restlessly on her bed. Her thoughts remained trapped in a spiral of microscopic crystal structures and the Professor’s ominous email.
TRING!
Suddenly, her smartphone vibrated violently on the nightstand. Natasha snatched the device—a follow-up message from the same Professor had arrived on her screen:
"If you still possess that sample... LEAVE VARANASI THIS VERY INSTANT! They have already breached the city borders!"
A wave of icy dread washed over Natasha’s entire body. What forbidden horror does this sample belong to that puts my life in such peril?
Just then... distinct, heavy footsteps echoed from the dim corridor right outside her locked bedroom door—
THAK... THAK... THAK...
Someone had stopped directly outside her threshold! Natasha’s breath caught in her throat. Leaping out of bed without making a sound, she frantically concealed the blood sample tube deep inside the hidden lining of her suitcase.
Back at the ancient Shiva Temple...
Harsh remained seated on the cold flagstones, panting as he watched the Sadhu. Suddenly, a creeping shadow slithered across the moonlit stones, rearing up directly in front of Harsh!
Harsh raised his head in pure horror...
Standing right before him was the Shadow Executioner! He had not fled; he had traversed the shadows to corner the young host alone!
Leaning down, the Executioner spoke in a voice that resonated straight into the darkest corridors of Harsh’s soul:
"You were never chosen to become Mahakaal, Harsh..."
"You were engineered to become something far more EVIL."
SWOOSH!
With those parting words, the shadowy wraith dissolved into dark smoke, vanishing entirely into the night!
Harsh was left sitting alone on the freezing stone floor, the Executioner’s chilling words burning like acid in his mind.
