My mother and I arrive back home with Chaz and his bodyguards’ assistance. Police officers are also securing and investigating the area so I feel safer than ever. Dismissing the neighborhoods’ glares, Chaz escorts me and my mother inside our house. Though the front of the house looks like a hot mess, the interior and the pieces of furniture are undamaged. Without a delay, we ascend to the second floor. My mother enters her room while Chaz and I enter mine. I walk towards the bed and hunker down. A swooshing sound resonates across the room as I pull out my suitcases from underneath the bed’s frame then toss them on the mattress.
