The next day, Serah encountered Gareth and Owen first thing in the morning. Their display of genuine concern somehow heartened her, though she couldn't for the life of her understand why they cared so much. Shortly after their interaction began, Asher intervened, boldly declaring in front of the whole school that she was now under his care and no one was to bother her or try to approach her from now on, especially Gareth and Owen. He even warned the students against spreading rumors about her. Not that this stopped them in any way… in fact his intervention only worsened things. Still, she appreciated his efforts.
