As Asher and Gareth triggered the various mechanisms on the door, it suddenly gave way with a rumbling sound.
“It’s the same castle…” Gareth commented as they flashed their lights into the corridor beyond. “But what about the trap door?”
Now that the door had slid to the side to make way for them, the mechanisms were plastered to the wall and they had no way to access them. Even after using their strength to the best of their abilities, it refused to budge. Asher punched at the frame in frustration.
“This is not working.” Gareth said, his expression downcast. “We should look for some other way...”
Asher released a low curse. “Let’s go separate ways and look for her.”
