“There’s no need. I’ll be leaving after I take a short break,” I replied softly.
“Absolutely not. How do you expect to get home safely after all the alcohol you drank?” Ruby declared unhesitatingly. “Just stay the night with us. You can leave when tomorrow comes.”
As if afraid I would change my mind, she bent down to her knees and took off my shoes without asking for my permission. When she was done slipping the slippers over my feet, she pushed me to the center of the living room and sat me down on a sofa.
