Chapter 30“J.” Grace sounds relieved when Jasper walks in his apartment door the next morning. “Where on earth have you been? I was so worried.” She looks him up and down suspiciously.
Jasper adjusts his clothes and opens his mouth to answer when he notices the pained expression on her face that seems to catch her breath.
“Gracey, are you okay?”
“Braxton Hicks. I’ve been having them all night. You didn’t answer me. Where were you?” Grace asks again, deflecting the attention from herself as she tries to play off the clear pain as if it’s nothing.
“All night? Aren’t Braxton Hicks meant to not last that long?” Jasper takes his phone out to look it up, but his battery is dead.
