Kaia
Dinner was... awkward. I hadn't been expecting to see my mates Mother so soon. Her aura alone was intimidating.
I could barely look her in the eye. I was even scared to do in case she would read my mind. I still remembered Xendith's words that their mother had a combination of all four brothers' power and more.
Great, breakfast was a disaster and now dinner was worse.
"You aren't hungry, Kaia?" she asked, catching me off-guard. "Or is the food not to your liking?"
I disagreed instantly. "It's not that"
"Then, am I the one making you uncomfortable?"
Damn it. I hadn't expected her to come out with it directly. "I just wasn't expecting us meeting so soon so I don't know how to act. I apologize"
She laughed deeply. "I like you already, Kaia. You can call me Marianna. I hope you can try to relax so that we can be able to enjoy this wonderful dish the maids have prepared"
I nod, relaxing a little. Given Marianna's aura, I was frightened at first when I got to the dining but after she laughed, I found her a bit more pleasant. I was able to enjoy dinner for a while until...
"So, when is the mating ceremony?" Marianna asked.
I choked on my glass of water. What did she just say? Apparently, I wasn't the only one stunned by that question. My mates also were.
"Mother, are you accepting Kaia?" Xendith inquires.
Marianna nods. "Of course,"
"Just like that?" Asked Pliar.
"I have no reason to object" Marianna says. "I am curious though as to why none of you ever brought up Kaia way before now but I won't pry further. We can't leave the throne empty much longer. The earlier you conclude your mating ceremony and have an heir, the better"
An heir. No one told me about that.
"Kaia. You agree with this, don't you?" Marianna asked.
I nodded as that was the only thing, I was capable of doing. "Yes, I do"
Marianna applauds, excitedly. "Great. I'll make all the necessary preparations as of tomorrow since you'll be busy at Kaden university"
Me? Busy? "Sorry, Kaden university?"
She turned to face Pliar. "Pliar, haven't you told her yet?"
Pliar shakes his head, "I haven't had the time yet, Mother"
"Don't drag it out for too long. Kaia would need enough time to get prepared to leave"
"I understand, Mother"
Marianna stood up to her feet. "It was wonderful meeting you, Kaia" She turns to face Cali and Aklan. "You two, come with me"
"But mother, I also want to spend some time with Kaia" Aklan whines. "I haven't had the chance all day"
"Aklan Nepheline Taylor," Marianna calls out sternly. "Don't make me repeat myself"
"Yes, Mother" Aklan says, obediently, turning to wink at me. "See you later, Kaia"
I watched as Aklan and Cali exit the dinning behind Marianna. Xendith clears his throat as he rises up to his feet. He says nothing except hold eye contact with Pliar then leaves.
There was an awkward silence between Pliar and I. Knowing that he clearly didn't like me, I couldn't bring myself to leave the dining before him so I just waited for him to make the first move. But he never did.
"Then..." I say, standing to my feet. "I'll be taking my leave firs-"
"I'm sorry" Pliar says, cutting me off.
I froze. Did I hear him correctly? "What?"
He clears his throat. "I said-"
"No, I heard you the first time" I admit. "I just don't deserve your apology. You had every right to be angry"
"Still, you'll be doing us a favor-even though it's against your will-I should have been more understanding and for that, I apologize"
Never had anyone apologized to me before. This was my first time. "Thank you"
"About Kaden university..." Pliar explains telling me about how it was a school for test of physical strength and how there would be a physical examination at the end of the session. "You don't have to be scared. I'll be there with you"
A test of physical strength. What if...
"Kaia" Pliar calls out, interrupting my thoughts. "What's wrong?"
"How long would we be there?"
"For two months or so" Pliar says. "But we'll be coming back to the pack mansion when necessary"
Two months from now. The Beaver moon would been out by then. Was it safe for me to go?
"I have to get packing then" I say, feeling a rush of heat all over my body. I don't wait for Pliar's response as I exit the dining rushing up to my room.
"It's happening again, isn't it?" Serena, my wolf asked seeing me uncomfortable.
"Yes" I groaned in pain, slowly making my way towards the bathroom but each step was taken with great difficulty.
My whole body was on fire. Dear goddess. Not again. They can't find out just yet. I had nowhere else to go.
On getting to the bathroom, I reached out to turn the tap head on but it burnt my hand.
"s**t!" I cursed. The heat from my body was so strong that the light in the bathroom flickered uncontrollably.
Pushing back the pain, I reached out for the tap head once more, twisted it as water ran down from it filling the bathtub.
Stripping out from my dress, I sank into the bathtub hoping the cold water would help me feel better but it didn't. Rather, the water slowly began to boil and turn hot.
This time was more intense than the last. Was it because I haven't used my powers in a while? What would happen if they were to be let loose right now?
I couldn't let that happen.
"Kaia!" I hear a faint voice call out to me from outside the bathroom door. "Kaia, where are you?!"
I recognized the voice. It was Xendith's. but why would he be looking for me? "Xendith?"
Heavy footsteps approached the bathroom, turning on the door knob with Xendith appearing before me. "Kaia, are you alri-"
My head wasn't in a clear space. My whole body burned and seeing Xendith in the bathroom while I was naked, I did something foolish. I screamed.
A rupture of magnetic force rushed out from my body, shaking the pack mansion and covering the whole pack district in a mass of total blackout.
