Once Calista was finally asleep, Lynn yawned as she settled against the pillows. “I thought she was never going to stop screaming.”
Alexis slipped beneath the covers, cuddling next to Lynn. “She’s wanted a Dalmatian for years now.”
“Yeah I know. I never told you this, but I overheard your conversation with Calista on the beach. It was the first day I met her. Gosh, she was so cute and it broke my heart when I heard the sadness in her voice.” Lynn slipped both arms around Alexis, spooning her body near as she closed her eyes. “I wanted to go buy a puppy for her but I was terrified that you would kill me if I even suggested it.”
