CHAPTER 1
"Naila!!"
She jotted awake, her heart pounding heavily against her chest. Sweat clenched her night gown, and the echoes of the scream still bounce off the walls of her tiny room.
These same nightmare over and over again. This time it felt too real, and that person in her nightmare never ceased to call her Naila.
She tried to pin down where she had heard that name from, but the memory slipped through her fingers.
She took a deep breath as she reached out for the light switch and turns it on.
Just then the door slammed open,
"Wake up sleeping beauty, you're going to be late on your first day at work" Hanna said as she barged into the room.
Work? Work! She had almost forgotten she had to go to work!
"Omg! I can't be late on my first day!" she shrieked as she rushed into the bathroom.
After a few minutes she rushed out of the bathroom in her bathrobe.
She slipped into a pair of sleek black corporate trousers, buttoned up a crisp white shirt, and gave herself a quick once glance in the mirror.
"you're going to kill it Tash, I believe in you, just go there and give them the best shots just like you always do" Hanna said lifting her hands, framing an invisible lens, as if she were snapping photos in mid air.
"I know you want something, cause this complements ain't coming for free right?" she replied pulling her shoes on.
"It's not like that though, I just wanted to ask if anyone saw me like that yesterday, mum........"
"If you're talking about you coming home late and drunk yesterday night, No worries, I made sure mum didn't find out" Tasha cuts in, not letting Hanna finish.
"shhhh!!! keep your voice down, thanks" she said.
Tasha leaned in, voice softer "I'm sure you'll want to talk about what happened when I get back from work".
Hanna could only nod in response.
Tasha reaches for her handbag which was ontop the bed.She snatched the bag, ruffled through the pockets and brought out her phone to check the time. she was already a minute late for work.
She sprinted toward the door, the hallway a blur of shoes and half‑finished coffee. The front door slammed shut behind her.
