Unfortunately for Lilian, Bill's mother, Mrs. Marta, ordered the wedding to be postponed until the following week. Mrs. Marta had arrived with Mrs. Celestia just in time to witness the chaos caused by Lilian. Although Mrs. Celestia had quickly taken control of the situation and resolved the problem, Mrs. Marta was still furious.
After the guests had dispersed, Mrs. Marta stormed toward Lilian and delivered a resounding slap to her cheek.
Smack!
Lilian's hand flew to her stinging cheek. Her mouth opened and closed as she struggled to form words, to defend herself, but nothing came out. This was the second time she realized she had made a grave mistake.
"You're such a disgrace! Only God knows what my son sees in you!" Mrs. Marta spat before turning on her heel and dragging Bill away.
