Chapter 1

In a very big hospital in California, a young woman in her late 20s was pacing around the corridor of the emergency ward her hair was lying messily at her back, her lips were dried and pale but it still had a stupendous rosy pink color, her nose was red and her eyes were swollen which is clear evidence that she has been crying for a long time. Despite how messy her face looks at the moment her beauty was not hidden, her skin is like that of snow white very soft and spotless she was indeed an epitome of beauty. A doctor walked out of a room she immediately rushed to him without thinking.

" Doctor how is she, will she be okay, what is wrong with her, " the young woman said asking different questions none stop.

The doctor looked at her pityingly before he spoke " What is your relationship with the patient ".

" she is my mother, doctor please do all you can to save her she is everything I have, " the young woman said sobbing loudly.

The doctor tucks a deep breath before he spoke again " Am sorry miss but your mother's condition is highly critical, she is suffering from a deadly disease " the doctor said trying to talk in the softest tone possible even though deep down he feared her reaction when he tells her the disease her mother is suffering from.

" What do you mean by " a deadly disease " what are you talking about doctor, what is wrong with my mother, " the young woman said dragging the doctor's coat violently.

the doctor tuck a long sign before he said " Your mother is suffering from a very bad brain cancer called Glioblastoma, it's an aggressive type of cancer that begins in cells called astrocytes that support nerves cells. It can be formed in the brain or spinal cord but her's is in the brain " the doctor said indifferently.

" W_what! It's not possible, my mother was perfectly fine just before I left the house and she never complained or told me anything about having a brain tumor " she looked at the doctor suspiciously " I don't believe you, doctor, how do I know you didn't make up all the talk about glioblastoma " she said dragging the doctor's coat even more violently but the doctor did not show any sign of resistance he knew deep down she was hurt and allowing her show her emotions is the list he can do.

" Listen, miss, most brain stem gliomas are high-grade astrocytomas. Glioblastoma multiforme, also known as glioblastoma, GBM or grade 4 astrocytomas is a fast-growing aggressive type of CNS tumor that forms on the supportive tissue of the brain " the doctor looked at her for a while trying to figure out if she is listening to him or not when he found her attention completely on him he continued " glioblastoma is the most common type of malignant brain tumor among adult and it is usually very aggressive which means it can grow fast and spread quickly although there is no cure, there are treatments to help ease symptoms " the doctor looked at her face trying to read her expression but her face was completely blank.

" So...so......so what you are saying is, my mother won't come out of this disease alive," the young woman said leaving the doctor's coat and looking at his eyes like a child expecting a gift from the parents. Deep down she wished for a positive answer.

The doctor looked at her with a frown on his face he knew the answer she expected but he was not one to give false hope when he knew deep down that the outcome is different " like I said earlier miss, glioblastoma is a particularly aggressive form of brain tumor, with a medical survival rate of 10 - 12 months. Part of the reason why glioblastoma is so deadly is that they arise from a type of brain cell called astrocytes. I am sorry to miss but the truth is, if your mother undergoes treatment she will live for 8 months but if she doesn't she will live for only 2 months with a high rate of headache and dizziness " the doctor said explaining without emotion his face. Though he could feel the young woman's pain he was still doing his job as a doctor.

The young woman tuck a deep breath before she spoke " So when does the treatment starts " she said cleaning the tears threatening to fall from her eyes she was not one to cry in front of anyone.

The doctor looked at her wondering how to tell her, from the way she dressed he could tell that she was not rich at all but, he still proceeded " technically, we can't start treatment until you put in 500,000$, it serves as a daily deposit for your mother's treatment ".

" What do you mean by the daily deposit of 500,000$," the young woman asked in astonishment.

" I mean each day you are expected to pay 500,000$ for your mother's treatment, her type of cancer is not something to joke about, " the doctor said slightly angry.

" What! 500,000$ daily! Doctor, I'm just a faceless singer and model I barely have 50,000$ monthly, and getting a loan in the bank is impossible these days. Is there no other option doctor, I promise I will do anything " she said letting her tears loose.

" Am sorry miss like I said earlier if you want your mother to stay with you for a while you have to look for a means of raising funds and besides this is a hospital for the rich, poor people are not allowed here if you don't bring the money within an hour your mother will be sent home " the doctor said in anger and walked away.

She sat down on the chair sobbing loudly that whoever heard her would be able to notice the pain in her voice. If only she could get a bigger contract in the company she was working for, she was working in TBD entertainment one of the biggest entertainment company in America, her mind flashed to six months back. The CEO of DUPE approached her and gave her a contract with his company to model for them in their up and coming fashion show, DUPE is the second biggest brand in Europe, they are popular for their great and creative designs if she could proceed with the contract she would have been popular and rich at the same time her modeling career would have risen tremendously but everything came crumbling when someone in the dack raised a huge scandal against her which almost cost her both of her careers DUPE immediately terminated the contract and gave it to America's rank one model Rhia Zoe. She has been trying to find the person who raised a false scandal against her but she couldn't find any reasonable information, now her career is jeopardized and she has to start from the crash if.........

" I came as soon as I heard, " Stacy said running out of the elevator interrupting her from her thoughts. " You look different, don't tell me you've been crying " she added with a concerned expression.

" What are you doing here Stacy, you are supposed to be at work," Arenze said ignoring her questions.

" Don't be silly Arenze, we've been best friends since forever and your mother is like my biological mother so it's my responsibility to take care of her just like you. How is she " stay asked with a smile?

"(.....)"

Stacy looked at her best friend with a worried expression she knew something was wrong when she didn't get any response from her friend. " Come on tell me what did the doctor say is wrong with her, it can't be anything higher than a fever " she looked at her best friend and saw her pale expression she knew she wouldn't have said that it was stupid of her. Something even more serious might have happened.

Arenze narrated everything the doctor said even the part of the daily deposit. If it was someone else she won't have added it, but Stacy is her best friend she can't possibly hide anything from her.
